Idk, with it being auto, and having a IM designed for a manual, some lines don’t add up. It’s not showing the code for my EGR now though. But then again I haven’t driven it yet, only cranked it up in the garage.
definitely check your map sensor wiring as well as your distributor wiring. I had the same problem with my b20vtec when i first started it up. I switched from obd0 to obd1. My ecu was throwing crank position sensor, map sensor and some other sensor code though
Alright man I will
Well I’m still having trouble with the car not running right. It’s still doing the whole misfiring thing (or something like that) when you accelerate.
We have tried the distributor coil, cap, and ignitor but nothing fixed the problem. Any ideas before I order a whole new distributor? We would have to order the rotor too. Do you think that would fix it?
change the plugs?? u sure u plugged everything in to correct place?any code??
is it a definate misfire? or does it idle fine, untill you press the gas pedal? plugged cat? just throwing out some ideas man!
I’m honestly not sure, that’s what I think it sounds like. The idle is ok, if moves a little, but not too much. It is mostly when I hit the gas.
try and find someone with a know good distributor and try it to make sure but im real confident thats your problem. even if it isnt. its a very good investment into a good solid running motor.
Ah we dropped it off at a shop. My neighbor has had his 280Z and 70’s Corvette worked on there, so I’m not worried about the car. Hopefully they can figure it out. Going to pick it up this afternoon.
Alright well she’s good now Turns out the injectors were pretty dirty/clogged. $70 down the drain, but at least it’s fixed. Now to fix rear spring squeak, get radio in, ect ect, haha. It never ends!
Well car’s been running great! Motor hasn’t given me any problems and everything is working mostly fine. My AC squeals a little, just haven’t gotten around to tightening it up yet. Let’s see, rear end still makes loud rattling noise when decelerating around 45-50mph, rear springs squeaking (grease should fit it), radio and speakers not in yet (need some Dynamat), oh and still have to get the camber kit done. Unfortunately I’m down to my last $18 or so, and no job. Looking like I might be able to land a job at Orielly’s though, keeping my fingers crossed! Though I am getting my windows tinted by an old co-worker of my dad’s at CKR. Going with 32% to stay legal.
Some pics this weekend when the tint is on!
Hey guys! Long time no talk! Not much has changed really. Well, I am getting pretty serious about boosting the teg now! I won’t be able to do it soon, but I’m already researching and planning the build! I’m going with Greg from Go-AutoWorks’s street kit with a few changes. I’m changing to mani to a Blox B-Series manifold that way the waste gate will be in between cylinders 2 and 3. For now that’s my first change but I’m also going to try to get some of the parts at cheaper prices that way I can save some money. If you guys have any tips/advice feel free to comment! I’m going to need help picking out what’s best for the set up. For now my goal is anywhere between 250-300whp. But I’m sure once it’s done and I drive it for a while, I’ll want to up it up some more.
I’m not starting on this now, seeing as I still have the 5 speed swap in order first, but I can’t wait to start stockpiling parts!
Well just got back from the track a little bit ago. Had a ton of fun. I managed to get pretty close with my buddy’s auto WRX. Also beat a Tiburon and some other car. I’m not sure what it even was. He wasn’t serious though, just some guy with his kid having a good time.
Managed to have a fastest time of 16.54 in the quarter mile. Not incredibly bad seeing as I still have the auto-tragic. Hopefully once I get my 5 speed in, I’ll be able to get into the 15’s.
Rob took a couple videos so I’ll have links to them when he gets them up.
Well Super bad news but with good news sprinkled at the end.
Today, while heading to a meet in Pelham at the Verizon Music Center, my transmission blew going down the interstate. I was driving, then next thing I knew I heard a breaking/horrible rattling sound and I look in my rear view mirror to see a long trail of smoke. Slowed down and stopped. Called my dad and he asked me to crank the car, which it did. I didn’t really think of that at the time, I was too busy freaking out hoping it wasn’t my motor, haha. Towed home on a flatbed and now she’s sitting in my driveway. Only thing we can see is there is a hole where the transmission cable goes in. But it doesn’t move in any of the gears so I’m pretty sure it’s gone.
Now the sprinkling of good news.
As some of you may know, the car is an auto. Now why would I waste my time throwing in another auto tranny? Well I’m not. I’m gonna start building up parts for my five speed swap. Now is obviously the best time to do it, and it’s what I told myself I would do if my auto ever died. Unless I can get a job, which wouldn’t do much good (keep reading as to why), nothing is going to happen until January. I’m not going to be able to work on the car in a couple weeks because I’m going on vacation and won’t be back until January.
Luckily, I may be able to drive my dad’s Civic that he finally got running. So hopefully I’ll still be able to drive, and still be in a Honda
On the pic were you are on the side of the road you have your amber bumper lights in the drive way you dont or on the flat bed did you take them off from when the tranny went out to when the flat bed got there
We took them out to get to some bolts on the bumper. I was going to take my bumper skin off cause I didn’t want the chains to break it because the tow hooks are behind it sort of. But to get the last two bolts hold the skin off, you had to get under the headlight, and to get the headlights out, you had to take the support off to get to the bottom bolts of the headlights, lol. And I didn’t have a big enough socket with me to get it off. But it was loose enough so when he pull it up, it just flexed instead of breaking anything
I have everything haha don’t worry
if u was going to take the bumper off why not just take the 4 screws( 2 on each sdie) out the wheel well and pull complete bumper off?? good luck on auto to 5spd sswap. i just bought a jasper green da.im going to be doing auto to 5sod on. i lucked out out and found a jdm b16 trans for 200… watch out for my build thread!!
DA rules!! lol
That B20 sounds great!!
Haha thanks man, she really screams when you step on it
until i read the end of your tread i was saying myself why this guy keep an automatic transmission!!
hopefully you gonna swap to a manual transmission! honestly this is a very good idea!! hope for you, you gonna get a b16 cable transmission this is your best bet for getting your b20 doing best time on quarter miles
