Am really happy for you man. at least you will be happy when it’s done I hope. I did the exact same auto to manual swap 2 years ago, but she is down now due to blown diff and tranny housing .:tsk:
Let me know if you need any help on this conversion whatsoever. I’ll be checking on this post daily so I can try to answer any question you have regarding this swap. Keep up the good work.
Thanks man. My dad’s outta town right now so I’ll probably just buy some parts and wait for him to get back since it would be a bitch to put the tranny up myself
Remember that you will need to solder together the black & yellow wires coming from were your old automatic shifter assembly used to be. So that your car can start and shut off with ease. Otherwise you will NEVER be able to remove your key from the ignition. One more thing, you’ll have to wire up your reverse lights also from your manual trans to your old shifter box wires. There are a few small little things here and there that I might not remember at this momment. But if you have any questions i’ll be glad to answer them as best as I can.
The reverse lights are taken care of as far as interior goes. Ended up using a relay. I’m 100% sure how it was done, but I have pictures somewhere that’ll be added to the write-up on here to help people out. Just the wires from the tranny have to be done now, but it’s not in yet
Alright so some parts are going to start coming in. Ordered my tie rod ends today and I’m going to order an Innovative Auto->Manual tranny mount when I can put money in the bank. Looking forward to getting this thing done and on the road
That’s a very good idea. I had to fab a special bracket in order to swandwich it between the tranny and the mount, but it worked for now. I too plan on getting a new tranny mount here soon from harport scince I already have the rear one from them.
Ordered the mount Tuesday, got the tie rod ends, got my flywheel resurfaced, and still tring to get a hold of a guy about a shift linkage. Anyone have one PLEASE let me know
Hmmm. If I find one i’ll let you know . You should try and find an itr one they are in gold and fit perfectly. They also last longer due to thier age, (newer), and the shifter possition is tighten up a bit with a slightly shorter throw. Besides the bushings on most of all the Ls ones that i’ve seen are pretty shot. type r one’s however are more stiffer and not as lose. Just for you to know.
I already have new bushings. I got the Energy Suspension kit. Thanks though!
Tranny’s painted. Working on getting the clutch mounted up. Forgot to torque the flywheel bolts, and somehow I’m missing a bolt for the pressure plate to the flywheel. Idk, I’ll have to look around for it. So, hopefully tomorrow the clutch will be in and maybe I can get the tranny in. Though, I might wait for my mount to come in instead. Got shipped out at 1:11 am on Saturday and UPS says 3 more business days so I should have it in by the end of the week. Looking forward to that. Still no luck contacting the guy about the shift linkage. Like I said before, if anyone knows of one for sale, lmk please! That’s all for now
Thats cool that you got those (energy suspension)bushings am assuming. But the bushings that I was talking about go at the other end of the linkage, on the tranny side, they are like washers, and they are part of it and connot be replaced . Just make sure when you get your linkage you check for loose play on it or it will wable like hell in the shifter after it’s in gear. This is a common thing for old integras and their used LS linkages unless you get one from a 94 and up integra, and they bolt up perfectly like your stock ones do, and feel WAY much better than the older LS ones. Just though you should know in case you didn’t . Good Luck …
Ah I did not. Now I know what you are talking about. Yeah that’s great news I’ll definitely be looking for newer linkages now. Thanks bud!
Got the tranny on! I hate photobucket cause it gives me the links backwards. Pics:
Nice ‘’ It’s good to see how far you’ve come along , and now you’ll be smashing out with that new competition clutch ha, ha …And as far as for that matty guy were is he now? he’s just a hater, because now your car looks good and he would look foolish making fun of you car. I do what I want regardless of what people say or think. It’s my car and a’m the one who has to drive it not anybody else, just cause I can’t go and buy that 900$ toda clutch doesn’t mean my car is cheap or crappy, so i’ll settle for what I can afford which is an exedy clutch, not that is cheapy or crappy but is certainly not the most expensive.with that extra money I can go buy tha manifold I always wanted. I hate when people expect you to fix up your ride like how they want, I mean it’s ok to give out pointers, or tell someone hey i don’t think that will work for you, why don’t you try this, but that’s your choice off cource, or help them decide by pointing out the flaws of that part or company who makes it but don’t bag on someone cause you are not buying the mugen mf10’s, or those ssr wheels because you can’t afford it, or find the damn things cause they are rare as hell.
Ha yeah that’s been my mindset from the beginning. I’m not paying $1500 for wheels and tires when the damn thing is daily driven. It’s stupid. Now sometimes it’s good to just invest in quality parts, but other times it’s more for “baller” status. Which is most of the time basically saying “I have expensive parts that’ll wear and tear on my DD” haha
I’m right here. I don’t hate on anybody, especially if they’re building a car with crappy parts. I’m just telling people what I know mostly from experience. I even used an ebay made in taiwan clutch on my car when my clutch went out recently, but I also mated it with a quality flywheel. I put a crappy part in my car because I definitely know I’m changing it out when I’m able to get a job and buy a rebuilt transmission. I would not beat on a car like I do with crappy products when it’s bound to break under high stress. if you don’t plan on driving the car hard then go ahead and get the cheap non-quality parts that will eventually fail. I’m not saying quality parts will not fail, but it sure will handle more stress than something not of higher quality.
Matt do you have a G2 now? I think last time I heard about you, you were hanging out with what’s-his-name with the purple-d out teg. I think you were driving a Civic hatchback at that point. 92-95 model I believe. Just wondering if you ever got around to picking up another
Yeah fuck that mattyG2 guy he doesnt know anything, oh hey matt ahaha jk
cars lookin good whens it gonna be drivable
