Alright. I got a spare trans I can haul up to UPS and have them quote me. I can do $150 on a trans and UPS quoted me $112 on the shipping over the phone but it was just the best ball park they could do. It could be cheaper. I’m going to bring the spare trans I have laying around up there to get the exact quote sometime this week.
No grinding right? Haha. And I may not be able to afford it right now. Got a lot of expenses adding up. But I’ll see what I can do. Thanks for all your help man
It’s not a problem. I got a 4 door EXACTLY like your I wish to restore from the ground up and helping someone else keep there’s isn’t a big deal. If I have to I’ll put the trans in my car for a week or 2 jsut to make sure it’s good.
Whatever works man. I just don’t want to get ripped off on another tranny, not saying you would intentionally do that of course

Ok so This past Sunday me and my dad finally got around to installing my radio. Unfortunately, the Hertz 6 1/2’s I was going to use don’t fit because they hit my window, so we put some cheap shit in there for now. Eventually we are going to build some rings to let the speaker sit closer towards the grill, thus clearing the window. Anyways here’s a couple pics. Also, my dad had the idea for the usb port, gotta love it haha

Well, it finally messed up again, haha. I had a good streak going there for a while. Alas though, I believe my fuel problem has finally caught up with me. The other night while turning on to a friend’s street, the teg died. It had been a little glitch/jumpy before that but I thought nothing of it. It has trouble idling when facing downhill though. Anyways, the car died and I managed to get it cranked back up before going inside. On the way home though, the car would idle at no more than 100 RPM’s. I had to keep my foot on the gas at all times. When I was sitting at a red light holding the gas so it wouldn’t die, the car was running very lumpy. It sounded like it had a set of cams in it haha. So I limped it home and started checking stuff out. I thought the valve cover gasket was blown because of thin traces of oil leaking from under it, but it was fine. So I decided to take out the fuel filter, injectors and fuel rail to clean them out. Fuel color from pump looked light this:
Obviously I still had the rust problem. So I decided it was time to drop the tank and see how bad the damage was. Sure enough, it wasn’t pretty on the inside:

So whats the plan? replacement seems like a good option to me cause thats a lot of rust.
Unless there’s some kind of treatment then yeah. I think it’s actually worse farther down in there. Need to find the water leak obviously so it doesn’t happen again.
Damn that sucks, that is a-lot of rust. I didn’t even know you had the teggy running, last I heard you were still looking for a tranny like me. So did you get one or what ? Oh also if you can’t find or source a new fuel tank which they do sell new ones online cause a used one could be worse in other areas IMO, but you can take your old one to a machine shop and ask them if they hot tank it for you and that hopefully shall rid all of that nasty ass rust. That’s if you wanna save some money and don’t have the funds for a new one. Good luck man on your quest.
