The Devondangers Build Thread, Take 2

My sister was on the highway here… Slid, took out a wood poll in the median.

No other cars involved… nothing. But she was cited as “failure to maintain vehicle” and also fined for the wood poll. Fucking serious? It isn’t enough that a person went off and wrecked their own car… buy cite them as reckless to boot? What a joke.

I hit private property. There was damage to a barbed wire fence, no more. It’s whatever. I’ll be fighting it in court because I don’t believe I was driving too fast for conditions.

Update time! So I got new tires and an alignment done. Running around 3º of negative camber all around, which still needs fixed, but my toe was -0.50º out of spec on the left. All corrected now.

The good/really good news:

  1. Castor angle was unaffected, which was lucky for a 30 MPH car crash, and furthermore, means that while the front support was slightly tweaked, none of the steering or suspension components are damaged or bent. There’s also NO play whatsoever in the tie rods.
  2. No insurance claim was filed on the vehicle that night, which means that I can continue to have a normal title (not salvaged or rebuilt), and I can keep comprehensive coverage.

The somewhat good news:

  1. No frame damage, minor paint damage. Not going to be winning any car shows soon, but it’ll be rebuilt eventually.

The not so good news:

  1. The window visors were taken out. Thankfully, not a rare OEM piece, or I think I’d have asked to be drug into the street and shot.
  2. The floor is dented just in front of the quarter panels from the accident. This is causing issues with the driver’s side door closing right, and it’s starting to show signs of surface rust, which means I’m going to have to take a rust remover to it and hit it with some paint to stop the rust from becoming worse.
  3. I still need to price out a camber kit and install it. 3º of negative camber is eating tires at an astounding rate. :frowning:
  4. I won’t be able to afford G2IC merchandise anymore. At least not until next week, at the earliest.

On to the awesome post that’s been a long time coming.

My good friend Jon, an OG EF Civic guy and frequent/longtime track driver, gave me a helmet he had been storing and not using. Not certified for NRHA or SCCA, but it’ll allow me to drive at High Plains Raceway on open track days. With my own helmet for the first time. Can’t thank this guy enough, from being the first to suggest ways to keep in budget with fixing the idiot of a last owner’s many mistakes, to where my money is best spent in preparation for track driving. Although he still can’t sell me on a racing seat and 4 point harness. :stuck_out_tongue:

So provided I’m able to afford to go, plan on seeing me out there ASAP, chasing Corvettes in my bone stock DA9, just like old times.

I’ve been looking into getting a few things to make daily driving easier on the car. A hood bra is the first of many products I’m looking for. I know I’ll need some body work this summer, and likely a minor rebuild, but a hood bra will help keep me in good shape until I can do a full repaint (likely in a couple years unless I do it myself).

Hood bra looks good, too, so… Yeah. Looking for a hood bra. Anyone know of any aftermarket ones? I’ve been contacting people about original ones, but they’re hard to find or people just don’t get back to me about it… I suppose I’ll just keep looking.

Also need a camber kit ASAP, considering I’m going to have to leave the BWR coilovers on till at least spring, and even after getting a great alignment, I have 3.3º of negative camber in the front and 2.8º in the rear, and it can’t be otherwise corrected.

TL,DR: I’m looking for a hood bra and I need suggestions for a camber kit.

No other updates, sorry. :frowning:

Nice to see the list of “good”…

As far as the camber kit I’d really recomend the DA-specific Skunk2 Pro set.

I ran the RevoTechnica setup and the balljoints were toast after like two years on a moderate drop… I was no where near slammed and always ran corrected camber. Soooo not worth what I paid for them.

Since Skunk have come out with their DA-specific kit I’ve heard nothing but good stuff.

Thanks for the support. I do have some bumper support damage that’ll need fixed.

Could’ve been me surfing late at night, but didn’t N FUL FX have issues with Skunk2’s civic kit?

Haven’t heard much regarding the Integra-specific ones, but If they aren’t to expensive, I’ll give them a look.

I also have DC coilovers, not sure how that figures into it.

Thanks, I replied to the thread, but he might have already sold it.

Indeed sir, Neal did have issues with his CIVIC designed kit on his Integra.

It’s pretty well known that they had extreme caster issues when installed on our cars. Read my last comment in that thread.

Haven’t heard much good about skunk2 in general, but seems people have positive things to say about that kit, so I think I’m going to end up getting them.
How are yours holding up? Have you known anyone who has used this sort of product in daily driving application for more than a couple years, or is this going to end up being a normal wear item? I’m new to lowered cars, I think you can tell.

To be honest I haven’t put more than maybe 500mi on my kit…

But I think the best part about the Pro Series kit is the fact that the balljoints are replaceable. The balljoint is typically the part that wears out due to the extra stress that is on the joint

RevoTechnica didn’t offer any replacement parts when I bought their kit.

BuddyClub may be worth looking into? Their kit seems to be pretty damn solid. I just don’t know if they offer a kit for our application. Sadly we kinda have to work with what is available for us.

HardRace is supposedly coming out with more parts for our cars in February. May be worth waiting for that? HardRace has a great rep.

Everything I’ve used from S2 has been good quality… but I have heard of horror stories.

He still have it we texted once in a while Im just not sure if he wants to sell it still he wants them sold together though.

I thought he said he sold the bumper mask locally already…

Edit: just got an email from him. He’s selling both. I’ll be in contact and post pics if I buy.

Goodluck hope he’s still selling it I got his aftermarket hood bra he is a nice guy.

Sa last week before the snow set in, I went out for more pics with me, my car, and my helmet. Im really happy with the results, especially after editing them the last few days.
