The ever elusive Hybrid DA suspension Article

So I will just need regular DC Front shocks and a type R shock setup in the back right???is there a difference between '96 R LCA’s than the 2000 Type R’s???

ARe you serious? Did you not read the last five pages? Jesus.

Ben

Will dc front and rear sway bar fit my da???

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^:search:

According to the last 5 pages you need front forks also

Greetings!
glad to see that preserved. That was my page (the link in the first post), though i didnt write the article originally. (I used to be CyberLeader here, dunno if my old account is still active, and my email has changed, so i made a new one).

I did this on my teg, so i have a few comments to make.
I have Zeal function B6 on my 93 LS, and theyre pretty fantastic.

But the rears are pretty short. I have them adjusted to max height (or pretty close) and its a good total ride height, but im concerned that i dont have much extension. ie, the shocks may “top” out in certain occasions. so far ive had no problem though.

Also, i had to take the lower mounting point on the zeals to a grinder to get it to fit in the LCA (i used JDM DA LCAs).
The JDM DA LCA and the ITR LCA have a slightly different mounting point for the strut. IMO, the DA piece is a better choice, though it may not make a significant difference.

Bro I just wanna make sure I don’t wanna spend 1200 bucks on suspension and have them not fit right…

i’m posting this artical on honda tech to see what people think
http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1394518

What I’m thinking is that a may want to machine the DA fork to fit the DC shock
A little shaving of the opening and a little heating and stretching.

The reason I’m thinking of other options is I don’t like the idea that the CV shafts will rub.

let me know what you think?

The EF/DA forks have an ID of 1.502" and the EG ones were 1.650".

The CV Shafts dont rub with the DC front forks.
If they do, then you have some other problems.

I have had 3 DA’s with dc forks on them and THEY DO NOT RUB… BTW the axles for DA’s and DC’s are similar in size the difference is the driver side axle on DC being IM shaft side a female and the DA’s being a male. BOTH are interchangeable between the years

i was wonder if eg front and back sway bars will fit my da

couple of pages back someone stated that theirs rubbed on the axel.
I was told they rub and was given som already machined out to not rub on the axel.

although others have also told me they don’t rub>?

Seems like it’s 50/50. I personally experienced the axles rubbing on the fork. So from my experience with DC forks, THEY DO RUB.

I guess all I can say is hope that yours don’t rub. It sounded nasty and will grind the crap out of your axles.

I searched through the site and I think Omni coilovers are what I am going to get for my 90 nteg. Do you think I should still do the hybrid setup, DC forks & DC Omni struts or just get the DA Omni’s? I am just wondering if I were to crank the rears all the way up would it still be to low in the back since the struts are shorter?

just my $0.02 omni suspension sucks. this is from what i hear from alot of people not thru experience

jdmcivicman do u have them???
then dont answer. suspension feel is always a personal thing.

get the DA omnis if you plan to get them. with them threaded max height allowable i have a 2 finger gap in the rear. i have had no problems what so ever with my street setup, on bumpy roads you will feel all the bumps but i dont mind that. the car handles pretty good even with my crappy costco special tires and the rears are at the limit too :tsk:

Are they hard bumps like when you bottom out, or just because the suspension is stiff? I wan’t a really smooth ride so I don’t know if I should get the omni’s. My friend has a 95 civic with ground control coilover sleeves and I believe factory Struts. It is really low and it just glides, real smooth and not real bumpy, also when there is a dip in the road the car rolls in and out of the dip without going wham!! at the low point.

i already said i don’t have them but i have heard of them breaking and just poor quality. but like i stated in my first post that is hearsay.

not from bottoming out just from stiffer spring rates and valving. its not like its bone jarring, i’m just saying you’ll notice more road feel. also just so you know the DA subframe hangs lower than any other chassis and has less suspension travel too. so if you really slam a DC, EG, EK and do the same drop on a DA, the DA would probably destroy itself because the subframe is so low and say goodbye to your oil pan, exhaust, etc.

I did some more searching and found the 6-way adjustable omni’s, D2 Racing has a full coilover that is like the omni but it is 36 way adjustable? Would you still recommend the omni’s?
