The JeLLie-mobile is back in business.

Yo mike! Good to see you on here. Glad to know there are still a few OGs that kept their DAs. Still got mine too.
Hit me up sometime. We should get together with Angell and grab Tommy’s again.

Glad to hear you still have your car. Right now Angell lives by me, but I think he is moving somewhere not so close within the next couple of months. Ill see what I can do.

Long time no update. Alright well some of you follow me on IG, and some might know me personally, but the rest of you may have missed out on any car updates. Ever since my baby was born I’ve had a hard time getting back into the same routine I used to have. After attending Eibach last weekend I wanted to push myself to get back into the habit of working on my car, updating my thread, and getting back into working out. Even if I only have time for one thing a week, at least it would be some progress down the line instead of letting all of these parts sit on the shelves. Onward with the pictures

I have 3 sets of service manuals, 2 of them were looking pretty beat up. Don’t ask me why I cleaned them, I just wanted to. I couldn’t get them 100% but definitely an improvement.

This one you can see the top line where i was able to clean it.

I have a small set of items I wanted to clean so I could install them. If you haven’t seen the car in a while here is a sneak peak of it.

Other than the rock chips this bumper grill came out pretty good. It came out a little shinier than I would have liked, but thats kind of how blackwow works.

I wanted to clean up both of these center bumper support brackets. One is obviously in worse shape than the other, but here was my first attempt at clean up on the better one.

I wasn’t really happy with it, there were still some old stains and pretty much every part that goes back on the car I want to be as close to perfect as possible (if I didn’t buy a new one). Here is what happens when you just use a cloth on your fingers to clean old dirt/dust

And then when you use various brushes (multiple times)

I know it’s hard to see but on the right side there is some white paint on the bracket. I think it was overspray from the paint job back in 2002 when I had the car repainted.

And then I found out that the body shop had tried to mask up some of the overspray, because every time I would try to remove some white, so much more kept coming through:gunleft:

But don’t worry, eventually I was able to get it all off.

And now it almost looks brand new

Even though I won’t be using this 100% of the time, If I ever want to take this car up the Pacific coast I will need this at some point. So next on deck is…

And one quick shot of the car before I head out. Don’t you dare tell me how dirty my garage is, I’m already working on re-organizing it.

so are those EM racing pillar bars on the floor?

nice to see some updates on this beautiful car

aaahhh the buddy club/chargespeed lip is amazing in white!!

These are actually the cross bars and rear upper strut bar, but I might end up selling them.

Thanks

Progress looks good Mike. Looking forward to seeing it when I get back…keep up the good work.

Thanks, but I still like your car better. I think it will always be that way with everyones car.

Alrighty
So I forgot to update a while back when I had all the misc parts painted I also installed a new (and I mean new) Intake. A few people at Eibach got a glimpse of the engine bay, but I left the hood down for most of the show. I really hate leaving my hood open at shows because I feel like people attend these events just to see what they can steal. I think I hate opening my hood during a show even more because people think you have some 500whp Honda and my engine bay is really nothing to look at, but I am willing to do it for anyone who requests. Anyways enough complaining, the Intake is OEM USDM ITR box, K&N Filter (until maybe I can find a spoon drop in), SAMCO ITR arm.

I returned the last top box because there was a scratch on it, then had to charge back on the company because they refused to give me a refund. I am starting to realize it won’t be possible to keep this box 100% scratch free, but this is still better than what the last place gave me.

Brackets were made to help it fit in an OEM type place, but we got to use a mounting spot at the top of the passenger side motor mount. Did I ever mention how much I love keeping the OEM holes in the bay?

Without the brackets, I don’t think you would be able to tell this wasn’t an OEM intake.

So here is when I first had the ITR motor in, using my old AEM SRI just to get me around.

I hated it so much, but I didn’t have half of the parts I needed for the ITR OE intake that I went to PWJDM to pick up an intermediate intake

And here is the final product (intake only) I am really happy with the way it turned out (looks, sound etc). Really like keeping the OEM engine bay look/feel

Went to CHURCH Automotive Saturday. On the way over I was cruising on the 405 the steering feels a bit loose so I will have to tackle that soon, it is at the top of my to-do list. Happy with the work the guys at Church did, it feels great now. Once I do some mild changes i’ll probably head back over to get a re-tune, but that is towards the end of my priority list.

As you can see, I have been taking full advantage of the great deals at OEMacuraparts

Took her for a drive to work today. I live about 30miles from work and I have a back road that takes me pretty much straight there, so whenever I drive the DA I only take that road. I think I might have an axle issue, so I will need to check that out next time I put it up on stands. I don’t think I will drive it much before then, just don’t want to chance it especially after almost getting hit twice today. Here she is all tucked away.

I have a full detailed list of plans in order of how I want things done. Next on the list is some PDR and then back to the body shop for some touchups, and things they weren’t able to complete before Eibach, so my next update might be a ways away.

Your car is so clean! All the attention to detail really shows! I really like the current intake setup too.

so did you ever get that paint chip fixed near the top hat of your supension

The air box looks great…definitely awesome attention to detail.

Thanks

Unfortunately not. The body shop where the bay was painted is too far for me to send it back to get fixed so I will have to get it spot fixed locally.

Thank you

i love this build!! i hope to see more updates and your intake set up just caught my eye so much great job man!!
