The make or Break my Turbo Build Thread

Okay so I have been searching for a while about turbo setups and I am really sick of reading misleading info about little kids on hondatech and crap talking like they know.

So my questions is how much money am i looking at to finish my build? I have my turbine now. but as for everything else. ie.

Piping

BOV

InterCooler

Tapped Oil Pan ( I could tap one myself)

Manifold

Wide Band

Civic Radiator ( I assume I will need it )

Clutch ( looking at an Exedy stage 2) 4 or 6 puck i am unsure of

Exhaust ( not sure about 2.25 stock or 3inch) Ofcourse people say 3inch because i will net more power, but i mean is it worth it for like what 10 extra hp?

This is what I can think of off the top of my head, However my buddy i work with his brother had the same car as me and same setup turbod, and he has all his parts left over. I am talking to him about picking it up, I am looking to get it for 300 I think. I am still totally unsure what it all will come with. But I believe it would be, Piping, Inter Cooler, Manifold at the least!

I am only gunna boost Max 10psi. So please give me your guys opinions. Also, if you have used certain things please give me suggestions on parts!

Not sure what year your car is… but if it runs on obd0 you might want to consider converting to obd1…

So maybe add

  • obd0->obd1 jumper harness

  • socketed obd1 ecu

  • choose a tuning program i.e hondata, crome, ectune, ect.

Oh yea… and if you do end up needing intercooler piping… there’s a group buy for a set going on right now…

if your going to boost, PLEASE do it the right way. If you get it tuned, most of the time your not going to be looking for a PSI level. Just build your block with good piston/rod combo. Build your head, and you will have your DA done right. So many people on here are happy with “250-275” im sorry but you will still loose to the N/A guys pushing the same power.

depends if you looking for new or used. in new your looking at a couple 1000$. if you can find decent stuff used then no one can give you a price. also depends on what company’s you go with. i can give you some rough estimates on new parts since i dont waste my time with used(only some stuff).
Piping 100-800

BOV 200-400

InterCooler 200-1000

Tapped Oil Pan ( I could tap one myself) do yourself a favour and get it welded. it cost me 20$ to get mine welded.

Manifold 300-1000

Wide Band 250-500

Civic Radiator ( I assume I will need it ) 300-400 for 2" aluminum

Exhaust ( not sure about 2.25 stock or 3inch) Ofcourse people say 3inch because i will net more power, but i mean is it worth it for like what 10 extra hp? 500-1000. and you’ll get more then 10hp going from 2.25 to 3. turbo isnt like n/a. you get huge gains from the right sized exhaust.

Going from 2.25" to 3…We aren’t talking about 10hp. We are talking closer to 30, engine breathing on the exhaust side of things is mega important w/ turbo cars, and if you do it right, you will benefit from it. One of the main reason why the DSM guys do exhaust and intake first is because it’s practically free horsepower compared to N/A. Anyway, bttm line is exhaust is crucial. Thermal technology makes an off the shelf 3" exhaust for our cars.
