The New P/S Removal Thread (56K warning)

The Ef rack has been working great in my DA for over 3 years now. might be a little slower but i havent noticed. also easy to turn.

:hmm: swear to “whoever”, I learn something new from you every week bro. :up:

anybody know where I can find swedboy’s writeup with the pics on how to put the valve body back together? I found the writeup on a couple pages but the pics dont work anymore.

Bringing it back…again

Anybody ever get the AN fittings sizes? I’d like to just block the opening up and not loop. Anyone?

If anyone wants an alternative to modifying the Power Steering Rack, you could by the EF Manual Rack with the Quaife Quick Ratio Steering Kit installed that I am selling on eBay. See here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=320233492584&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=011.

Does anyone have the document or pictures for this. I am going to do this tomorrow and would like as much on hand info next to my car as I could get

email sent.

Thanks man  Here is a link to the document if anyone ever wants to download it. Power Steering Removal or Power Steering Removal - Alternate

thanks for the re-upload man!

hey about those pics

im going to put in a new rack in my da and would love to see those pics. i tried clickin the links, but no pics at all just text. no pic boxes or anything. i want to do this swap this weekend along with all bushings and camber kits. please help! thank you for your time

^^^ If you are referring to Swedboy’s write-up then I would like to see it too. Unfortunately, I read the first and last page of this thread which indicates to remove ALL of the parts from the valve body and that’s what I did. Now it looks like I have to put some of the parts of the valve body back together in order to make it work properly :bang:

I downloaded the document Phantisy uploaded and it looks like that is NOT the correct way of doing it since that document clearly states to remove a total of 11 parts from the valve body. About half way through this thread Swedboy posted a link to re-assemble some of those parts taken out of the valve body to fix some issues some people were having.

You do not remove all the parts in the valve body. The document I have posted is not one I made. It was one from this thread and was sent to me in an email. I will get back to you in a few with a pic of what to remove.

If you remove all the parts there will be play in your steering. I tried it by removing all the parts and it was awful.

Thanks Phantisy!! I’ll wait for your picture… Yes, I know you didn’t make the document, but that’s what threw me off because the write up on the first page says to remove all the components from the valve body then the document you uploaded for everyone to use has basically the same information. It’s not your fault, it is my fault for not reading the whole thread. I went back and read it after I did the mod and that’s when I found Sweadboy’s write-up… The problem is that his write-up is about half way through this thread so people will HAVE to read the whole thread to realize that otherwise they will make the same mistake I did…

if anybody has any pics on how to gut the valve body the correct way please post or e-mail me at rayrayb20t@yahoo.com i jus purchased a new rack and before i put it in i would like to do it the correct way. thanks

Can someone post up the correct pic of what needs to be removed?

Phantisy said he was going to post one, but he never did… :frowning: I’ve been waiting for this…

what happened to the pics?

Yea i removed all that crap inside there now mysteering wheel has hella play. WTF?

Can someone clear up what needs to be removed?? Maybe start a new thread thats not so misleading?

Remove just the 2 plungers & springs on the right do not remove the 2 with the bar across them. Thats the way mine was done a few days ago & it seems fine.
