Well long story short, i’m driving and this subbie was riding my ass so i opted to give him a taste of boosted LS, well in typical Ls form around 4-5k the power falls, i see a puff of smoke (90% sure about that) and it throws a code… OH and the car sounds just like the subie that i was given the smack down
WELl u may say stop and check it out, i say HELL TO THE NO, with no AAA and 25 miles away from home i jump on the turnpike and set the cruise @ 65mph… fast forward 15 mins and i’m noticing the engine sound has grown louder then my exhaust
i drop the speed to about 45…it’s doing a bucking like movement …finally it’s starts it’s death roll…i exit the pike and a cloud starts to follow and it dies…i lift the hood and i notice that steam is pouring from the rad and yes the cap is on so i say #$%^ that and closed it…
SO WTF HAPPENED??? i’m running an ls stock on about 10 psi
silly, u should have known the subbie was a waste of time. i’m gonna have to say that due to you saying it’s 100% stock, puff of smoke and now overheating and rad smoking; u blew your headgasket. once it’s cooled down i would have checked the rad. it’s most likely dry or very close. stock headbolts probably gave up as most of them do. rods, rod bolts, and headstuds are the major weakness of the ls. anyways thats all speculation and guessing so post some pics and start examining
ok when i said 100% stock that didn’t mea 100%…car had arp’s and the subie wasn’t a waste of time, he was on my ass and i hate when car’s do that, i’ll ran a 13.5 so i knew i could take it… i figured i cracked a sleeve…xenocron will know when it takes it apart… i’ve blown a headgasket b4 so i know what that shows, it’s ok though, the engine was getting replaced in march anyway, i guess if i cracked a sleeve then the block is fucked, o well no ls/vtec for me…
haha thats how i explained it too when i popped my head gasket, sounded like a Boxer engine with no exhaust on. Likes to try and die at low rpm and now power untill you make boost, if you only see smoke when it gets warm that means its a gasket but if you are getting white smoke all the time its either a real bad blown gasket or a cracked block
Sometimes you can hear a difference with a cracked block, you’ll hear the rings chaffing on the fractured sleeve.
well xenocron is my main tuner, as he tuned this last engine, hell he installed it as well, i don’t blame him…i do think i’m going to switch over to neptune instead of crome though
