Thinkin of buyin Tein S-Tech lowering springs. have questions about them.

i’m looking at a set of Tein S-Tech Lowering Springs that will lower my car 2 inches all around. but i have a couple questions.

first, i know this has been covered before but which springs are for the front, and which for rear? (sorry i forgot and for some reason, everytime i hit the search button my internet closes, so its not helpin me at all) and for that question, i’m not really worried on the answer yet cuz i haven’t bought them yet.

next is, does anyone here have them on their cars? what do you like/dislike about them? would you consider them quality springs. i know tein is a very trusted name in aftermarket suspension but i want peoples opinions on them before i shell out the dough. i’m getting a good deal on them too, $135 shipped so i’m pretty interested.

i’d like info on ride quality, are the springs annoyingly bouncy? etc. thanks for the help guys (and girls too  )

i just got them for 70 bucks and im istalling them in my car as we speak, and when you’re istalling them you almost can’t switch then , there is a set that is small on the bottom and big on the top, those are the rears, and if you compare them, the skinnier goes in the front, the fatter go on the back, hope it helps
:dozing:

i had them…i thought they sucked to tell you the truth…one it was to low and i couldnt even drive up to my old school cause of speed bumps. two the spring rate is way to soft. but they are cheap named brand spring

what you mean cheap name brand spring? i’ve been told that tein makes some of the best springs/suspension parts available.

any more input, i’m very interested in these springs.

if these springs aren’t good, any recommendations. i’m lookin to lower it 2 inches at all 4 corners.

i ment there cheap in price, and there a good name…I would just call the stech more of a show spring. look up the spring rates on different springs, I think they may have less of a spring rate than OE

me personaly i would cut a coil or two off of a stock spring to drop it and have a stiffer ride than the stechs…but then you cant put there sticker on your car. damn

i would go with some vogtland springs. about the same price as s-techs. They drop the car 1.8" all around, i will take some pics as soon as i can. They ride nice as hell.

S-tech

I had the s-tech’s on my car. They are a bit too soft so if you are running a brand new set of shocks they will feel good at first then after the shocks blow then the rides kinda bad. They were really low also. I had a problem rubbing my mud guards and exhaust when I went over speedbumps.

TEIN Stech on KYB AGX I love it I never had anyproblems it is low but you just have to be careful how you drive im pretty sure that with a lowered car you are not going to be going full speed over speed bumps. the ride is very comfortable.

TEIN is by far the best suspension I have ever dealt with. The S-Techs give a very smooth ride, and the ride height was just right for me. I love TEIN and it is well worth the money.

I “had” them on my car for about a month. They definately dropped my car more than 2 inches. I measured the gap before and I should have been left with about 1" gap left. When I was done, I could barley fit my finger in between the fender and tire. I scraped over every speed bump there was, even the wide ones that you usually don’t scrape over. I decided to go with Ground Controls that way I can adjust it to right exactly where I want it. I also have GR2’s. I do have to say, they rode very comfortably.

wickedintegra:

yeah that looks a little low to me. i’m gonna be using stock shocks for now. but the ride is still comfortable i take it. did you have any issues with tire/fender contact? if so, how bad.

and just a general question to anyone who cares to answer. is there anything i could use to slightly raise the height if these springs are TOO low for me.

yeah i measured the gap as a before and i SHOULD have about .75 inch (i’m rockin 16’s with 205/45-16s so they take up a little more space than stock wheels/tires) as long as my tires aren’t tucked under the fender too bad, i think i can manage to prevent a little scraping, the roads/speed bumps etc. around here aren’t terrible and half the parking lots in my area you can just drive right around the speed-bumps if you want to. i understand the spring rate is a little soft but it makes for a somewhat comfortable ride to my understanding correct. i’m not lookin for all out bad-ass handling just yet, this is still my daily driver, when i get a beater i’m goin ALL OUT in ALL aspects of the car. its gonna be highly functional.

when I had my falken Azenis 205 50 15 in the rear it would rub a little but i had a camber kit so I had to give it a little negative camber, in the front i never had any problems

Get Ground Controls. It’s going to end up way lower than you want with the S-Techs.

i’m gonna try em out first, i’ll try em for one week. if i have problems with them, they are comin off. and i’ll get either skunk2 or ground control full coilover systems. but if i don’t have too many problems with em, then i’ll just deal with em till spring and get a FULL coilover suspension.

got them in the mail today, i might put em on this weekend, i’ve got a pretty hectic schedule this weekend but i’ll try to find time, i know its gonna take a little while but i’ll see what i can do.

okay, i’m installing them this sunday, any pointers as far as the install goes? and i must ask, about how long did it take, from beginning to end. i’ve got an appointment for an alignment on monday morning so i’m not gonna be driving it much on sunday night. anyway thanks alot, i’ve never installed springs on a car before so i’m not sure what i’m up against here. thanks for the help fellas.

Tips… don’t tighten the spring caps till they are on the car, it will give you a little extra movement/room when putting them back onto the car, a friend always help cause on the back my buddy had to push down on the control arm while I put the shock back in.

I think it took us about 2-3hours cause I put on a camber kit at the same
time and that was with air tools…I sure people could do it faster, but I’m anil about torquing everything to spec…

S-tech are a little lower than the thought also…

does ur car handle ne better then stock with the tein springs?

not sure to anyone that wants them, but i have a set of practically new (6 months old) stechs, ill let them go for 75+shipping for anyone who is interested, I was happy with them while they were on, but i got a sweet deal on some ground controls i couldnt pass up so i took them off but htey rode really nice and my car looked sweet

any more pointers etc. anything in particular i should do. details etc. would be great, thanks alot, i dont have time to search right now, i have go to a damn supervisor meeting at work so i only have time to ask and run. if its been covered before (and i’m sure it has) please post a link, it would help out alot. thanks in advance. and if anyone has pics of the install “in progress” would be good. and did anyone have any problems at all. also, will i need to get new bushings for the rear control arms. i was told i wouldn’t since the control arm doesn’t have to come off? thanks alot i’ll be back in a couple of hours. thanks thanks thanks.
