It’s a pretty close election, which is quite surprising when you consider how different the presidential candidates’ polices are with each other. Then again, a lot of things can influence the electoral college results, as well as what gets cast at the end of the day.

I too would like to hear more of your thoughts about the upcoming election.

Neil allowed several political threads during the last “MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION OF THE MODERN ERA!!!” I mean the 2008 election.

I know you aren’t supposed to vote based on single issues. The health care reform deal is going to hurt my bottom line in a number of ways. 1) If I stick with the same company I am at now, the 1%er owners are just going to pay the fine rather than buy insurance for all of the underlings. I make more than 400% of the poverty line so I’ll be forced to buy insurance on my own without the benefit of any government programs or bare bones insurance plans, or pay a fine. I’m sure that insurance companies will have products and services for people like me, but I’m terrified of what the monthly premium will be especially in NJ. I’ve been uninsured and was able to pay cash for medical care (the one doctor who I, in a strange twist of fate, work for now was very eager to take $1900 cash from me instead of submitting a claim for $10,000 for xraying and assessing my broken hand in the hopes of getting $900 back from the insurance company) and I was ok with that. Without insurance I doubt any doctor will give me the time of day or expect me to pay thousands of dollars for the simplest visit. 2) In 2010, before most of this stuff was on the table, my previous employer sent out an email stating that due to the PROJECTED rise in cost of this bill (which was still YEARS away at this point) no one was getting a raise and the company would not be hiring anyone. They also planned to CUT hours. Currently vendors and suppliers are using this as an excuse to artificially inflate prices and to put contrived limits on quantities of certain medications. 3) the doctors that own the company I work for are concerned about every aspect of their day to day under the new healthcare reform guidelines. Some of the guys nearing retirement are talking about calling it quits all together and writing articles a few times a year in medical journals. Lower censuses equals less money for everyone.

again you can’t vote based on 1 issue. I live in a state where a vote for anyone other than Obama really doesn’t matter, which is pretty crazy since we have a republican governor. I do plan on voting for a 3rd party because I haven’t been moved by a candidate in the last 4 elections.

im not sure cuz i got bored a few lines in, but are u btching bc u make too much money to get state and federal aids for insurance and shit?? if so please smack urself in the face

the new mandate is that you have to have insurance. My employer will no longer be offering it. I make too much to be eligible for any form of government assistance but the cost of insuring myself on my own could be over $1000/month (thats like $3500 texas dollars). I work in an industry that has to play by a new set of rules and laws and no one is really 100% sure of anything. I hardly call that bitching. You’re retired? How old are you? Are you at all concerned about how your financial future and your ability to receive quality healthcare?

yes im retired, im 24yrs old, and i have no concerns about future finances and healthcare, as i had said before i have AMAZING insurance…i can walk into any doc or er that will accept my insurance and most will and walk out no bill at all…as for finances, i get 2 monthly checks that equal to more than i was making when i was on active duty…so nope no worried here…and also please dont do the 1000=3500 in texas, i lived 30 mins from jersey my entire life…

You apparently haven’t been paying attention to what the current administration plans to do to Tricare for retirees, have you?

Hint: if you had been, you’d have a vested interest in preventing another term.

what ^^^ said

Vets are gonna take it in the wazoo if this keeps up. they already messing up the GI bill… and trying to roll back benefits across the board. My little brother is 100% disabled and riding the silver cloud too and I keep telling him to get off his ass and make sure he has a backup plan.

I only hit up VA when I have to. and am glad I never became too reliant on it. As much as it sucks all us veterans and service men & women need to pay attention and protect our futures, cause we are one bad apple away from having to fight for what we deserve.

I’m not voting. They’re both pieces of shit.

exactly why i could care less rite there lol…

I’m voting for Roseanne Barr. haha.

Funk Romey, Funk Obama. Obama has a slighter edge to me only cause Romney threatens my job.

I’ve heard several people wish there was a “none of the above” option. But I would hate to go through another campaign season.
