Tial 35mm vs. 38mm wastegate differences, dimensions, pics, diaphragm

i think someone swapped the cap on my 38mm to the 35mm so i thought i was jipped, but it turns out at least i do have the 38mm valve.

here are my measurements +/-.02mm:

outlet: 35.22mm.
inlet: 44.04mm.
fire ring seat: 40.24mm.
fire ring o.d.: 44.10mm (measured in hand, fits snug in inlet).
fire ring i.d.: 34.85mm.
valve: 38mm (rough estimate).

outlet bolt holes shortest distance: 64.44mm.
outlet bolt hole: 6.65mm threaded.
inlet bolt holes shortest distance: 62.42mm.
inlet bolt hole: 8.65mm unthreaded.

Based on those pictures…I have a 35mm top with a 38mm body…weird.

Me too I think.

hm thats a relief then.

from that im assuming that initially the 35mm top was the standard top for the 38mm as well, while the rounder, silver one (or any other color option) is the 40mm top and was an extra 10 or so. most of the current dealers seem to be offering the round, silver, 40mm top as standard.

TiAL switched to the 38 and stopped casting the 35mm, I dont know why, they just did, maybe a year or two ago.
I have a 35mm with a rounded top, it si a gray/brown annodized color. My friend has a 35 also, but his does not have the rounded top (he has the squared corners) and his is bare aluminum color. We both bought them brand new, but at different times. I think TiAL used both tops on both valves depending on what they had in stock when they are assembling them. Dont worry, just run it and hope you put it back together correctly.
P.S. The RWD AEM/Driver FX.com Pro-drag car uses two 38mm Tial wastegates. TiAL is the shit.
