Tire Size

Hi ive searched quite a bit but havnt found an answer.

I have a 90 DA, its going to be lowered on tein springs, so sbout 2 inches, and i have a set of 15/6.5 rims.

I was wondering what tire size i should go with, thanks

205/50series if you like tire life.
205/40series if you like the thin look, but they’ll cost you and wear out sooner.

I have 205/50 on 15x6.5 rims and they look good. It also depends on the tire brand if you want the tire to look thin but still be a 50 series tire.

there isn’t a 205/40/15. but your options are going to be either 205/50/15, 195/55/15 or 195/50/15. i’d stick with either the 205/50/15 or 195/50/15. just my opion though.

go with the 205/50/15. You’ll get a little more rubber and a better look. I have those on 6.5 inch rims and I haven’t had a problem yet with rubbing.

thanks for all the info

keep it comming

cheers

go with 195/50/15 if your gonna dunk that bitch…If theres finger gaps then go with the 205/50/15.

im picking up some fat fives today and the tire shops all told me to get 195/55/15 tires, then why are some many people running the 195/50/15? which ones should i get and why?

aren’t the 55 more expensive than the 50?? i have 195/50r on my fat fives.

Well from what I understand The middle number is your diameter/ tire height.

So normally you run a 195/60/14 in stock trim. When you go to a larger diameter wheel (15) you need to keep within the same overall diameter the factory designed the car to run with. So to keep in the specified diameter you use a skinner tire. (55/50)

The tire places told you to get a 55 cause it’s closer to, if not exactly within specified diameters for use w/ a 15inch rim.

Tuanx2o9:
You get 205s instead of 195 because they are wider, not because they are bigger in diameter. This gives you a better contact patch. The 195/50/15 vs. 205/50/15 you suggested won’t solve the gap issues. However, with a certain offset the 205s may rub the fender lip. That seems a little extreme though. Probably wouldn’t find that kinda offset on a DA normally.

play around with this:

alright thanks that website really helped

Thanks man! That thing’s cool!

h93da6- your statement is incorrect. a 205/50/15 tire is wider and taller than a 195/50/15.

the correct size from the factory 195/60/14 to a 16" wheel will require a 205/45/16 tire for example.

195= section width / 50= aspect ratio / 15= wheel diameter

“the correct size from the factory 195/60/14 to a 16” wheel will require a 205/45/16 tire for example."

exactly what he said becoz i have my DA on 205/45/16 and they are perfect for me with a good 1.8 drop. I roughly have 1.2 inches gap all around

The 50 is more expensive then the 55.

not totally true. my 195/55/15 michelin pilots cost 130.00 each
and then the 195/50/15 nankang/kumho/falken cost around 60.00 each.

How 'bout some 315/35-R17 A032-Rs? Or some 165/70-R10?

i see someone has been at the track again.

wouldnt doubt if the yok’s were around 450-500 a scoop. considering the kumho v710 is about 360.00
and i dont have a clue about the 10’s

but i keep em clean though

They 10s.

fitted to a cooper i assume?
