Hey everyone, this is my first documented build and honestly probly… My first build…period…, its a 1993 integra DA that my fiance got me for my birthday, she saw my orginal DA project was a lost cause so she got me my first real start. The teg was all complete and original, it was so amazing I ended up giving her my new to me 08 ford focus to daily cause this teg was so comfortable, I since then swapped over my skunk2 sleeves wrapped on eBay gas charged struts, my momo steering wheel, and some gauge overlays, jus last night my friend and swapped wheels as well but I’m sure he’s gonna want his back. my old teg, still has the amazingly good condition b16a so I’m gonna swap complete motors for now as I gather up the parts to build a good reliable Ls vtch but all parts will be bought before the motor even gets taken off, for the sack of having as Lil down time as possible, pics will be posted within the day wen I get home
nice teggy. oh and its better to upload at a site that host pictures.thats what i did on my build thread.
Cool thanks man, which host do u recommend, did phoyobucket get more stable?
I’m not sure but that’s what I’m using . Post more pics =]
What are the plans, motor wise? Could be a fun setup!
Motor wise, I’m still a Lil lost as far as performance, my list so far is the golden eagle vtech kit, ARP head studs, some skunk2 stg2 cams, I already have aem cam gears so hopefully it may help tuning but eh… I already em so it doesn’t matter, I’m still lost on which forged pistons I wanna go with cause I don’t know if I wanna run small boost or nitrous, I’m still doing reasearch on the compression maps on rather a gt28 disco potato would get me were I wanna be with the money I’m gonna spend, if no, then there’s always nitrous, I’m a firm believer of the "go fast juice even tho the only thing I like to refill is my gas… I also learned to choose my races very very wisely, so wouldn’t be refilling much anyways.
vtech eh? lol
Vtech hitz mad hard y0!
Nah, just busting your balls.
If you’re going to use n2o, make sure to use the right products in your build… Use the wrong piston type and you’ll melt your motor down.
Not being a dick, but it seems kinda like you’re all over the charts here… Lsvtec… turbo… Nitrous… What is your ultimate goal, power-wise or quarter-mile wise? You need to know where you want to end up before you know how to get there. Naturally, budget plays a role… But if you’re not ready to do things right the first time around, it doesn’t really matter how you build it if it isn’t going to last…
Well I hope I didn’t mis lead anyone, L’s vtech IS happening, I have a complete b16a motor in the black one in the pics, I’m only “all over the place” with between turbo, and nitrous, and YES, I did say “still doing research on compression maps” budget isn’t the role “getting what I want for what I spend” is what determines which I want. If anyone has any helpful tips or advice on things that I actually mentioned on post it be great, or give me ur opions on which YOU would do and a Reason why u would do that or had any good or bad experience with either or. Well like I said it depends on your ultimate goal, you still haven’t given a hint to what you are trying to accomplish.
Oh yea I’m sorry man, thanks. My quarter mile goals are 14s in Over 4k elevation, to begin with. I really wanna take my time with this one and make reachable goals at a time as the money let’s me. and focus more on power band, traction (LSD b16tranny and good tires) and comfort, I already have my suspension choice down! No one can talk me out of racelands, iv had too many great experiences in em
Well like I said it depends on your ultimate goal, you still haven’t given a hint to what you are trying to accomplish.
RaceLands are… Yeah… they will work great for a few months. But they’re definitely not a performance oriented setup. They’re a local company here in Utah. I’d rather have a great product with less of a warranty (that you’re not likely to use), than one with a 5yr warranty that you’ll likely have to utilize.
But, you get what you pay for.
14s can be done with right around 200whp and a good driver. A solid LSVtec build can reach that. Hell, a stock motor with a turbo bolted to it would hit 14s… but of course I’d imagine you want something more reliable.
I’d honestly go with a really well planned all motor setup. If you’re only looking for 14s, you don’t need a turbo.
The car looks to be in great shape. My advice for your first build would be don’t buy ebay crap and knock parts. Do a lot of research and check out other builds that you consider “high level” and shoot for that caliber. Also, take a look at things that may spark you interest instead of asking people what they would do. I remember what it was like starting out with no real experience. My .02 cents, tems like the type r horn or hokey gauges will look cool at first but they will loose appeal and look cheesy to you in a few years so stick to OEM when possible. Hopefully you will take the advice so you don’t learn the hard way and waste way more of your hard earned money (and your fiance’s gift) in the end. Good Luck with the build, LS VTEC would work out nicely.
Thanks for the response everyone. Yea ur already right man, please ignore the type r horn, it came with the eBay steering wheel, I bought I along time ago, which (lesson already learned) was straight chit quality, and I rather have a ricer horn then a hole, didn’t bother me at first cause the “type r” was at least inside the momo logo but yea ur right that got old really quick. I plan on replaceing it with an acura horn. The overylays, I love as night. During the day not the best, but in my opinion not worse then stock, it jus doesn’t match yet, for ex. The ugly faded white needles in the cluster, don’t match any of the other light, but I have 2 of every part, so on my extra cluster I’m gonna try redoing the needles to make em look well… Not as old… I almost fell Into to the eBay curse since this was the first car I found parts for on eBay but they dont kid around… EBay is why they made that "u get what u pay for " saying, I bought a deep dish steering awhile back, it litterly folded in half, and was “thick”, along with a set of hids… And oh my goodness, they didn’t even come with connectors, and were jus chit quality, so yea, no worries, my lesson was already learned.but I’m curious… Is there anything that we can get use from eBay? For example I’m a fan of there led bulbs, as long as u get from a USA seller, iv never had any problems, is there ANYTHING u guys would still get from eBay?
Yeah… OEM Honda parts can be found on eBay, as well as “reputable” brands such as Skunk2, PLM, Crower, Brian Crower, etc etc. But I would be sure to buy from a reputable seller as well, because there are knock-off products that look very close to the real deal. Just make sure what and who you’re buying from.
As far as non-name-brand stuff… About the only things I’d really trust is the 4-1 “Type-R” style header… but most anything to do with the suspension system or internal motor parts, I’d steer FAR away from eBay knock-off shit.
LEDs? Yeah, I’d buy from a US-seller and try to get US-made parts… But then, I’ve never been big on LED lights.
As with anything, research and find reviews for a product before buying it. You can save yourself big headaches by doing simple research.
I use ebay all the time, just stick to genuine parts (no knock offs or “style”). I got some things like my Momo wheel, hub, etc from ebay. For LED’s use http://www.superbrightleds.com/
Yea iv heard of them, I bought from them once and sent me the wrong ones, very helpful and good customer service tho, I should try em again, seems there products are of way better quality then anything eBay sells. And guys I have a question, I got this obd1 wire tucked harness originally to convert my black obd0 to obd1 but now that I have 93 I wanted to use it on this one, but I can’t find anything on these plugs
I can match up everything else no problem but I can’t find anything on the 3 main plugs, iv searched and searched but I only find the harnesses that plug directly to the ecu itself
Ok so been a little late on updates due to some family matters, but things seem to be back on schedule, moneys a Lil tight till Thursdays so only thing that got done was, I installed my short shifter and energy suspension shifter bushings, if u havent done this mod yet, I highly recommend it, only 15$ and makes a world of a difference. Also managed to get my hands on a stock miata shifter, really nice simple and small, will post pics in a bit. Also found out my “new wheels” arnt hub centric so gonna hit up discount tire today and try and get that taken care off. I really wanna get my black da sold to speed up this build so this Thursday my shopping list contains so far ES motor mount inserts, if anyone on here has an obd1 p30 b16a ecu or a chipped p28 for a b16a, im interested! and an obd1 distributer so I can swap this wil Lil bad boy in already, and sell my DA with the L’s mother since ls blocks are a dime a dozen
Alright so hub centric rings installed and good to go, I just wanted to share some pics of the drop and wheels
And the short shifter with miata shift knob
