Trailing arm bushing development.

EDIT, Read whole thread…

Good info Ben.

Yes, you can

and Duy will do the install…

no?

Duy doesn’t have a blow torch

That’s what I told the guy. He didn’t know what Mugen was, so I said thanks for the price, and I’ll get back to him

in the website that shows the install, there is a step that says to reinstall the bushings to where the flange is oriented pointing down the center of the arm for a car that is stock height and pointed to a lower part on the arm for a lowered car.well, if that flange was oriented originally for a car at stock height from the factory, and people lower their cars without changing the orientation of the flange on the bushing, why does the flange have to be oriented differently when replacing the bushings?

Update:

I took Nino’s trailing arms and my Mugen bushings over to West End today so Darren and take a look. He measured the inside Inside-Diameter (ID) of the OEM DA bushing and it was 82.2mm while the outside ID was 80mm or so which is what the Outside Diameter (OD) of the Mugen bushing is.

He’s going to burn out the OEM DA bushing and try to install the Mugen into the DA sleeve. He may have to weld the inside of the bushing to the DA sleeve because of the size difference.

I’ll find out if this is do-able tomorrow.

1.1mm all around sounds to big to get away with. From what I gathered, your supposed to weld the OEM '90-'93 sleeve into the arm then press in the new mugen/EF bushing, right??? Perhaps the bushing that King modified for you is not the one we would be buying if we did the ogle cure??? What mugen bushing application did they modify for you at king duy? .040"+ is HUGE :argh:

the ID of the DA bushing sleeve is taperd so it seems. I think he’s going to weld the sleeve to the arm, press the Mugen bushing into the DA sleeve, and weld around the inside to make up the 1+mm difference.

I have the “stock” Mugen EF/DC bushing. It wasn’t modified in any way.

 Wanna sell’em after that?

 I’ll refrain from making a joke - so I don’t offend the moderators

He quoted me $80 to do the installation of the bushing into the arm since the arms were out of the car. So I’ll have $200 (~$120 for the bushings and $80 installation) invested in the trailing arms - which IMHO is WAY cheaper than buying DC2 arms AND Mugen bushings.

I also think this is cheaper than buying the OPM modified Mugen bushings and having someone press it in.

I guess it depends on who’s doing the labor. Costs for my setup:

$150 for dc2 trailing arms
$115 for mugen dc2 bushings
±----
$265
-$100 (for selling da rear trailing arms)

Total Cost $165 and I did all the labor myself. But this will change a lot depending on how much you pay for the dc2 arms and how much you can sell your da arms for. Prices for these parts seem to differ qutie a bit depending on timing.

Duy, any chance you can get some pics of how it turns out? I’d love to see exactly how Darren is gonna do the install. Hopefully it all works out.

I will post pictures of the arms when I get them. I hope so too

What about the orientation question? It was a good point that was brought up

Great to see that you’re using those arms after all. Now if only you’d give them back with the Mugen bushings installed. :stuck_out_tongue:

IC TA Swap party

I’ll bring the beer and watch…

I don’t want to muddy up the waters, but I had the following exchange with A&H Motorsports in PA:

The bushings are replacements for your standard rear trailing arms. I have not seen the type of conversion you suggested so I can not say one way or the other about the Mugen parts. Labor is as follows:
With arm removal= $355.00 for both sides.
If you already have the arms out= $71.00

I apologize for not getting back to you sooner on this. I haven’t been checking this mailbox. I was under the impression that because my bushings were shot, I needed to replace the entire trailing arm. There is much ongoing debate about this at G2IC.com. Are the bushings Acura Integra (DA) bushings or Honda (EF). Lots of people are replacing their DA trailing arms with DC arms so they can use the Mugen bushing. Do you have a Part # for the bushing? If A&H does service also, how much would they charge just to replace the bushings? Or would labor costs make it the same as replacing the whole arm?

Thanks again,

Subject: Re: Trailing Arms?

Thank you for your inquiry! The price for the rear trailing arms for your 92 Integra LS is $222.30 each side. We also have genuine Honda/Acura replacement bushings available for $49.95 each side. If you find a lower price for any genuine part, please let me know and I will try to match or beat the price. Thank you again,

Andy

Is it possible to get a price quote for: trailing arms - 92 Acura Integra LS?

>>> Still trying to get a part # for the bushing… $71 doesn’t sound bad, assuming i could get the trailing arms off the car.

yeah right. please get a part #. I dont think that guy realizes that the DA bushings are different than all the rest.
