Trunk fell on my hand! haha oww

So far during this winter my trunk has fell on my hand, and my head on more than one occasion :bawl: . I think my teg hates me hahah. I was just wondering if any of you have experienced this, and what did you do? I would like to open my trunk without using something to prop it up. thanks

do u mean hatch or do u have a 4door? my hatch has the struts so no i cant say i have had ur experinces

ive just noticed in the cold weather i have to help it up a bit but it stays up when its there. In warm weather it goes up quickly. :nana:

my bad, sorry i wasn’t clearer, yea its my hatch. I have tried helping it up a little but it just doesn’t stay, in the summer its not a problem just winter for me too. I was just wondering if anyone else has this problem.

i think everyone has this problem, its a good excuse to pull ur wiper motor and get a plug, the lack of weight from that should make it stay up, the hatch wont fall, and the world will be a safer place

yeah that’s true - i don’t have my rear wiper - just a plug.

Or just get new struts at Auto Zone for around $20 ea. Mine has new struts and the wiper motor and it stays up just fine.

i plugged my wiper with a black rubber stopper from home depot. fits perfectly, looks flush, weighs less, and i dont have that ugly rusty rear wiper or motor weight.

and i have new shocks too. :stuck_out_tongue:

i got new struts, when it’s cold out it has a hard time staying up. probably from all the Bondo the last owner put on the trunk…instead of changing it (was totally rusted) he just packed it with Bondo…dammit lol

This happens to me too… in the summer it worked perfectly, but as it has gotten colder and colder over the last few weeks, it is harder to get it to stay up.

-50 degrees (F)+ it works perfect
-30-50 degrees you need to pause it at the top for a minute to make sure it stays up
-20-30 degrees you need to really “pause” it at the top and hope that it stays up. Usually it stays mostly up but it will sag from the “top” a little bit
-Today it was like 15 degrees and no matter what it wouldnt stay up.

I wont bother replacing the struts because it is 40 degrees+ 9 or 10 months of the year and I dont drive much in the winter anyways

mine stays up no matter what i just have to push it up. Like the pump things need help to push the hatch up, but it stays up there no problem.

my hatch wont stay up in the winter either.

mine won’t ever stay up lol and yea it has crackd my head

Sometimes in cold weather, mine will shoot this nasty oil crap out of the struts. I really need to replace them. But for now I just use a 2x4 that I cut to length to hold it up. I know :ghetto:

how cold is it where you guys live??? mine stays up all the time.

mine dont work in any weather period. i just use the cover that comes off from the back of the seats to cover what you have in your hatch and that works pretty good i guess thats really :ghetto:

dAMN you!!!
Mine just started acting up today! The passengerside strut is leaking oil. :argh:

HAHA I was actually thinking of getting a 2x4 hahaha

HAHAHA thats so funny, it used to happen to me. I got annoyed and took the struts off…bad idea cuz I held it up with a stick and the hatch fell on my head and shoulder at school, I had a purple bruise down the side of my face. All becuase I was too cheap to buy the struts :loser: Im sooo smart. My mom finally went and bought them for me…

i had a 2x4 for a while. when the hatch fell on my head, thats when i ordered new shocks lol
