Trying to decide need expierienced help

First off let me say that I have been doing searches for 2 days and I have read the turbo guide at least 3 times (its just so great). I am having trouble deciding what I want to do with my car and I am leaning towards boost now. I love the sound, I love the look and I love the power. I am not too crazy about boosting my teg right now because it has 160,000 miles and has seen better days. So I think I might go with getting a low mileage b18b and going from there. What I need help with is trying decide what I should go with. I would like to go with 8 to 10 psi and hopefully get around 200 hp preferably to the wheels. The things I was wondering are kind of vast so I will try to sound as intelligent as possible. My first question is what would be the best turbo for a setup like this I have seen the t3 and the t3/t4 hybrids, turbos from cars like the saab and the eclipse and so on. I would like to go with something that is well known and reliable like garrett nothing like that ssautochrome or xspower crap. Next fuel management. I would like to go with either the afc hack or go with hondata but I dont really have anyone in my area that could tune the hondata so that is a problem. If I do go with the hondata is it possible to use the dsm 450cc injectors with the check valves and high flow fuel pump or do I need bigger injectors? I am shooting to spend around $2000 for the turbo setup depending on how much I spend on the engine and I am trying to do all the work myself. Its going to be a little while before I can get all the money together so this will definitely be a work in progress and give me plenty of time to read up on turbos (including reading the turbo guide a few more times). Thank you guys for all your help in the past and most definitely in the future. And if there is anyone in the Georgia, South Carolina, or North Carolina and you need any help anytime on your car give me a shout. I love to work on cars and even though I dont have too much expierience I can turn a wrench and I dont mind helping out others anytime. Thanks again guys.

I’m rushed for tiem so I could noyl read the first half and already my mind is tellnig me that you should get the GT28RS with .63 or .82 T3 ATP drop in turbine. You’ll spool very fast and hold to the b18B redline and EASILY make you 200WHP. It is pricey tho. around 1100US give or take

i found one of those on ebay after you posted…it was 1800 austrailian so it was like 1400 us…damn that thing must be awesome!

1400?!? Damn lol. checkotu www.atpturbo.com. They sell it for udner 1200US. full-race.com sells it for 1049us.

I’m pretty sure Tchleung hit the head pretty good with the turbo selection but as for fuel I would stay away from the “hack” at all costs. I had an safc hack before I went hondata and I can’t say enough about it. There are other options besides hondata as well though. Uberdata, Neptune, and turboedit are popular. You need to find out if your obd-0 or obd-1 cause it depends on that I believe. That is just my personal advice on fuel. As far as dsm 450’s they will work just fine for 200hp. Good cheap choice. That is what I am running right now but need to replace them (going for 320whp so I might have them up for sale here pretty soon. Hope all that helps.

yeah man i just made up my mind between and Gsr swap or just boost and i’m going boost, but my friend just got a Garrett t3/t4 with a 57 trim, it spools pretty quick and puts out nice power, he used Uberdata and thats what i’m going to use because we live in Ny and there is a guy right on the boarder of nj and ny that does tuning for uberdata, About you motor pull it out get it honed by a shop and throw some aftermarket pistions and rods in it, that what we just did a month ago with my friends DA, it came out real nice accept the block to be bored because of a nice little gowge in the the #1 cylinder. Good luck man

well i cant really have much downtime since this is my daily driver…so thats why i was gonna go with the new engine…figured it would cost me about the same to get a b18b and just swap it as it would to have mine torn apart and redone. i was looking at the t3/t4 and it seems nice i bought a kit from a guy last night off carolina hondas that needs some money. it was in a d series civic but i only paid 300 bucks and i figured i could use the intercooler some of the piping the boost gauge and turbo timer, the turbo is like a ihi-rhb5 from a probe i think…the guy says the waste gate was modified so it has a 12psi spring in it…i figured for 300 bucks i can take the stuff i want and sell the rest on ebay and maybe even turn a profit and get some cool stuff…thanks for the advice guys keep it comin…oh and i would def. like to go with hondata then the hack my problem is as far as i know there is no one around my area that can do it

Turboedit = ODB0
Uberdata = ODB1

We also have a resident expert on the topic, xenocron.

i have obd 1 and i am gonna swap in the b18b which is also obd1 so i will go with hondata or uberdata if i can find someone in my area to do it…i have a laptop and the hondata site says you can do it urself but im not confident i could do something like that
