Tuners in British Columbia

I found a bit of information on this when I searched, but not enough to satisfy me. I hope posting this in this section is ok, it relates to F/I.

I am looking for tuners in British Columbia, mainly Vancouver area but there is little options that I have found so far, so anywhere in BC im looking for.

I have found garage 5, they are willing to tune using Hondata S200. I was hoping to find a crome tuner in BC, as crome is all I need for what I am doing. Seems to be lots of BC members on here so I am hoping someone can help me out! Anyone in BC that will tune Hondata s200/s300, or crome. Thanks!

What’s your setup consist of? I’ve tuned quite a few FI hondas and a few talons in the Okanagan from Oliver to Kelowna. I tune OBD1 hondas with Crome, OBD0 hondas with turboedit, OBD0 VTEC with BRE. I have S300 in my own vehicle so I am experienced with this as well. I do not book dyno time tho. Just steet tunes. I ask my customers to have an additional O2 sensor bung welded for the wideband system that I use for tuning. Tuning is done in realtime with Ostrich unit and a final chip burn afterwards.

I also only street tuned my own G2 and on a Mustang dyno I made 484whp/313wtq

Let me know if you have any questions

Tom(Same name :p)

You don’t know how happy that made me reading that lol, if this works you could have seriously just saved me a TON of money!

My setup is actually for my Prelude (I know not an Integra… yet)

I am actually just looking for a street tune right now so that works out!

My setup:

-B20A5 motor with a B21A1 head to lower compression, Wiseco 9:1 pistons, with the 2.1 head on the 2.0 block im looking at about 8.5:1 compression.

-Intake manifold and head have a slight port + polish job and the throttle body has been bored out to 60MM.

-780CC injectors with a Walbro 255LPH pump. Stock fuel rail.

-Upgraded cams (haven’t gotten them back yet not sure on specs)

-T3 Turbo (MIGHT be upgrading if mine sells)

-Tial Wastegate, 10PSI spring

-Greddy BOV

-Front mount intercooler

-2.5" plumbing

-Full 3" turbo back exhaust, with high flow cat, Apexi N1 turbo muffler

-Not sure what ECU, but hoping to have crome with it. Any suggestion on the ECU?

I am really hoping to be able to get it tuned with crome, that saves me a bunch of money over the S200 or S300 system, and crome is pretty much all I need for my setup. Im hoping to see 250WHP out of this.

Also, the guy I am getting the ECU + Crome setup from can put basemap onto it, I don’t know if you would rather just have a untouched ECU or a basemap as a starting point. He said he just gets it as close as he can without being in the car based off what he knows about that cars (works with them a lot), and that gives other tuners a starting point.

Sorry for the long post lol, pretty pumped up that I found someone who can tune crome!

Oh and also, I would have a bung welded on for the sensor, any particular place? I figured just on the starting of the downpipe, easy access.

Thanks Tom!

Tom

Oops looks like I forgot to mention, its OBD1.

ECU + pre-socetted and a basemap is fine. I can tune it from there, I am not overly familiar with the Prelude B20/21’s, Are people generally using a Bseries ECU for this such as a P28? That motor is non VTEC correct?

for 250whp, or even 300whp, the 750’s are a little excessive. You could get away with 450-550’s. Easier to tune smaller injectors too, but no biggy.

O2 bung should be placedno less then 18" from the turbo. Just anywhere before the cat.

Yup the motor is a non-vtec. Pretty much any computers that we can that will work with crome or Hondata, but if you are more comfortable with a certain one I’ll go with it.

You probably know the B20/B21 isn’t like the normal B series engine. I think Honda went longer stroke on them which limits high revs, so no v-tec. If 550 would be easier then I think I should go with that. Probably idle a little nicer with those too.

Yeah the B20’s were always more odd ones out :stuck_out_tongue: But that’s fine. if you already ahve the 750’s then don’t worry about it, but if you still are buying injectors, I’d get 550’s. I always like using the P28 ECU as the VTEC output can always be used as a trigger for something.

Haha yea, especially the B21 which they did FRM cylinder walls on, I was almost out of oil once a week I was burning so much.

I still have to order the ECU with Crome, and the injectors. 550CC would save me a chunk of money too so that would be nice!

What kind of things do you do with the VTEC output? Sounds pretty cool actually lol.

So it looks like the option I have is a P06 ECU with crome pro, it comes with a base tune so you will have a starting point from there, do you feel comfortable tuning with that or should I get something different?

Nope that is fine

Awesome! Have you tuned many Honda’s with crome?

I’ve tuned with Crome:

Yeah I’ve tuned probably around 7-8 OBD1 hondas with it, inclduing my own, before gonig to S300

Awesome. I know the S300 would be a heck of a lot better but personally I don’t need it, it won’t be a high horsepower car, just looking to knock out some decent power. Ever had any problems with crome?

The only issues I’ve had with it is idle. Some cars had great idles, some had a bit bouncy idles, seems to be a pretty common problem according to PGMFI.ORG

Yea I am not expecting a great idle from my car anyways due to the injector sizes, and some bigger cams. The car still won’t be done for probably another month unfortunately. I may be upgrading to a super 60 Turbo, and the manifold is still currently being made. How much do you charge for the tune? If you don’t mind saying in public here :stuck_out_tongue:

This depends on the situation of if I’m coming to you, or you coming to me to tune as there must be a safe place to do so. what is your email?

Personally it does not matter to me. I live in Vernon (40-50 minutes from Kelowna) and there isn’t really a safe place here. The safest place I would say is behind my dads work actually, loooong straight road, average width, but sort of bumpy, fair amount of traffic. I have no problem driving the car to meet you somewhere (just gonna have to keep going up and down through RPM’s lol).

My email is T-Dubetz [at] hotmail.com

Don’t mean to hijack, but (Tchleung) how’s your experience with Turboedit? If I can get my crap together, I’d be interested in using your services too. Nobody here seems to like OBD-0 anymore.

Tom.D, YGM

frozenrice, I can also tune with this. I’ve basically used all the free editing softwares except uberdata, which i thought was garbage. lol.

Right now I currently have BRE,Turboedit,Crome,Tunerpro(For the DSM’s) and Hondata on my laptop.
