i meet a tuner who told me turboed cars suppose get tune twice a year. once in spring time and once in mid summer. is that true? i know climate changes specially in canada. but is it true what he is telling me? thx
No. MAP and IAT sensors take care of changes in temperature and pressure associated with a change in seasons, and for part throttle driving, the O2 sensor will make appropriate adjustments to fine tune the mixture. The only time a change in weather conditions might warrant a new tune is if you move from Florida to Denver, for example.
Eh…even when you tune once, its impossible to replicate the same conditions the car will see in a different season.
There are tables for IAT, ECT compensation…etc, but once you start modifying things, change injectors, map sensor…etc, those tables wont work like they would stock.
I would say its a good idea if you get tuned on a hot day in the summer, to bring the car back on a really cold day in the winter for a touch up.
thx guy for the info
