ok after 4 years of building me killer engine i got it running today, but no boost when the car isnt moving, i can rev to like 7Grand and nothing happens the needle just stays in negative vacum i have a profect b controiller and tial wastegate and dont ask they are hooked up right so that isnt the problem, but if any one has any advice or suggestions would be great thanks
Im guessing since u are not getting boost, one of your charge pipe couplings might have popped off.
i checked all the pipes and couplers and nothing is loose or leaking
Wow…do you know what you’re doing?
You’re not going to make boost just reving the motor. The engine has to be under load.

just some info hardrebasher i do know what im doing, but since you donty know i will fill you in a single stage turbo system will give you boost with no intercoller and shorter pipes do yo the fact that presure from the turbo fills up faster so incase you didnt know you can build boost with out being under load, but thanks for the comment that i dont know what im talking about and your telling me you cant build boost while not under load
i know you said that you checked all your connections, but try giving all of them a slight tug, if you didnt already. Sometimes a charge pipe will pop out and still look like its in the coupler, meanwhile its not.
wow…just…wow
wow
post pics of your set-up so people can help you? I can’t build boost when I’m not driving but I know some that can to some degree. it depends on the size turbo.
thanks for playing the “I don’t know shit game” :owned: :hyper: :whip:
unless your running a 2 step with ing. retard, you will NOT have any boost while standing still. you might get 1psi from a free-rev to redline, depending on the size of the turbo.
funny how i step on my gas pedal and i show no boost what so ever when im reving the car. maybe i forgot to hit the boost button i have to call KIT for some tech support
When you learn how a turbo works my friend (nitrousn8), come back.
YOU NEED SOME LOAD FOR YOUR TURBO TO BUILD BOOST.
Now I agree with you guys and especially xenocron, but I am wondering if it is just on a piston engine that it isnt possible to build boost with no load, becasue we just got done a while ago with a turbo setup on my freinds RX-7 and his would build boost revving somwhat slowly up to redline, but then again its a rotary, so I am wondering if its just a piston engine thing…
You can build boost with no real load free reving if you have a “small” turbo etc. No way with a standard turbo most of us run
Have you even tried to drive and build boost??? Don’t go boost happy without a tune. Break in the engine properly.
Yes, it was a very small turbo 5lbs was all we were looking for on the stock motor with 160k on it lol. It was only tuned with an safc, took it to the track 5 days after putting it in and tuning with a wideband on the streets (hard to do :bawl: ) he bogged the launch, and missed 4th gear and ran a 15 flat. Second run, launched, got 100’ or so down the track, and as we say ‘pop goes the wankel’ detenation owned it. O well he laughed, he was just messin around cuz he has a new motor to go in
Well I had an 00 volkswagen gti that would boost 5psi with no load. But they have very small turbos and my g2 won’t get any without driving.
You cant build boost (meaning it goes up from 0-Xpsi). Yes you can mash the pedal for a second and a little boost may register on the gauge and your blow-off valve might make a sound like in F&F, but you cant BUILD boost.
The only way to build boost without load is to use an ALS (anti-lag system).
I was reading a decent thread on it last night on the RM board.
when i had my turbo setup on (T3), i hit 12 psi in my driveway on jackstands. is this because somethin was setup wrong or was i just reading something incorrectly?
Were you in gear? I think it doesnt build boost because it’s in neutral, but if youre in gear on stands, theres at least a bit of load…?
