i’m going to be making my own 2.5 cat-back exhaust for my turbo project. i was going to use the magnaflow muffler #14416. my question is do i need a resonator? i know that a turbo will quiet the exhaust tone by itself, and i’m just curious how loud this will be. i’m also stuck on what to do about a cat. i’ve been reading a lot and it seems even “high flow” cats still block the exhaust flow. i guess i could do the “weld on cat cover to testpipe trick”. opinions/advise?
How are you making just a cat-back for you turbo exhaust? Especially if you don’t even know if you are going to use a cat? Anyway, from my experiences a nice resonator will give the car a nice tone, but it’s not necessary by any means. I’m running just a resonator and small hi-flow cat on my car with no muffler. It’s loud, but not obnoxious by any means.
Do you already have a downpipe made? If not you have to make the whole exhaust from the downpipe coming off of the turbo all the way back. Alot of people use a flex pipe after the downpipe, then a cat (if you plan to use one), resonator, and muffler.

oh yeah i know man…this thread was mainly about the exhaust portion of the piping(downpipe back)…
Okay… how does that help him at all. Of course it’s loud…
I would elave the cat out tho, and run a 18" or longer resonator. a straight through one, and also coupled with the Magnaflow muffler will make it sound great.

cool, thanx! any thoughts on where to pick up a resonator? i checked ebay and i didn’t see much. i guess i could check my local exhaust shops or something.
