ok, ive got a 92 DA with a 95 JDM b18b and i started my install today. xspower mani (yeah i know they are crap but this manifold has been well braced by the former owner.). AIResearch T3 from a thunderbird. Downpipe off of a DC. ok i have a problem. both the downpipe and the charge pipe coming off the turbo are hitting the crossmember. ok my idea for the down pipe is to cut it as soon as it turns down and once everything else is installed i will drive VERY conservativly to the muffler shop to get the DP fabricated. does this sound ok? also what in the hell should i do about the charge pipe? the exit from the turbo is like 3 inches from the crossmember and i dont know what the hell to do. should i just notch the shit out of the crossmember or should i get some rubber hose like radiator hose or something to make a sharp turn? help me please.
aftermarket crossmember
and or notch the stock one
and or heat+pound
u clearly didnt do enought research on the Da plateform:P
ur words are kinda confusing man
u talk bout chargepipe
then u go on to exit from turbo
then u go on about using a radaitor hose coupler
if by when u mean exit from the turbo u mean the compressor side i doubt that there is 3 inches
I would personaly recomend a full race cross member. as for the compressor wheel. you should be able to clock it.(rotate it upwards) unless that model of turbo wont allow u too.
OH YEAH like soontobe said.:search: there are so many threads about turbo installs and clearance issues. i dont think we need another.:bang:
i was told that the turbo compressor outlet had to be facing down so that the oil return was facing straight down to get the oil to drain out by gravity. so the oil return port doesnt have to face straight down?
obviously, the straighter it is the better. but as long as it’s facing down, (i would say no more than a 30-35 degree angle) you should be ok…
whats a good aftermarket crossmember??
Full Race
:repost:
+1 for Full Race
well i was able to get a 90 degree turn that fit for the IC piping from the turbo so thats taken care of. as far as the downpipe goes i had it cut as soon as it turned down and once the install is complete, the local muffler shop is going to fab up the rest of it. other than that all i have left is the boost gauge and relocating my battery. i took lots of pics but left the camera at work. ill post them up tommorow. oh yeah and i havent trimmed the bumper to fit the IC yet.
oh yeah and im definitly gonna get an aftermarket crossmember soon. im hatin this damn stock one.
why not cut it. Im probably going to cut mine and take a few flat peices of metal and weld them to the cut spaces to give it a cleaner look. But thats b/c I have a welder.
yeah id do that for sure right now if i had a welder
