i want to turbo my next teg and run it with slicks. i want to get new pistons, rings, and rods. the turbo kit would be a t3/t4 kit w/ over size IC. i want to run 20-25 psi. what i want to know is will the IC fit and what would i have to do to run that PSI. :burnout:
well, pretty much (read: NOT ALL) IC’s will fit. It’s just a matter of how much bumper you have to hack off. if you’re going to build a motor for that much boost, you’re going to need (short list of major components only):
pistons
rods
balanced crank (needed? not sure)
closed deck
fuel system
some sort of engine management cause your ECU is gonna kick you ass with that much boost
you’ll probobly want to port your head and upgrade your valvetrain as well
uh… hm… well you get the idea. pretty much everything that breaks, has to be prepped. it’s gonna be an expensive project and there really is no way to give a definite parts list.
you’re looking at a major investment. I’d say around $15,000 in engine/turbo/management. Not to mention everything else you’re going to need to run that kind of power reliably. Like Formz said, close the deck or ductile sleeves, crower rods, je pistons, balance the whole thing, stainless valves, port head, huge ass injectors, stand alone ecu, electronic boost controller…
Or you can just buy a Supra and run 20+ psi on the stock block all day long like I’ll be doing in a few months ![]()

or save yourself thousands and buy a DSM and do the same thing ![]()

A stock DSM block can take 20psi? I did not know that…
buddy if mine runs 22psi on his 1g at qualcomm if u ever see him there dave im sure he’ll give u the heads up on it he mentioned he just upgraded boost parts such as a bigger pump and what not dont know about the bottom end. he was running 8.0-8.2 (1/8) all night.

dude stock DSM blocks have hit 500whp!! I’m running 18.5 on the street on 93 octane pump.

Is it a white Talon? If so he kicked my ass once in eliminations, it wasn’t pretty…
I’ll still take a Supra though ![]()
the problem with supras is, none of them can hook. There is a joke, and I’m sure you’ve heard it…
What do 300,400,500, and 600hp supras have in common?
12 second time slips!! haha
And this is total fact too. A friend of mine laid down 694hp to the wheels and ran a 12.5@134mph using drag radials. With huge slicks he ran a 10.8, but still, holly wheel spin batman!
tru those engines are very strong. turbo’s(magazine) gvr4 is pushin well over 400whp on the stock block.
i mean really, they gained 30hp and 56 lb-ft of torque from just a filter, exhaust, and downpipe. damn they are enticing, too bad theyre so hard to find!
hey num nuts… the gvr4 and the turbo DSM share the same motor!

You know what else 300, 400, 500, and 600hp Supras have in common?
More hp than 99% of the cars on the street.
There is more to life than quater mile time slips, and there’s more to owning a Supra than running drag races.
And comparing a Supra to a DSM is like comparing a Corvette to a Cavalier. Sure you can have a fast DSM for less than a Supra, but you can’t have a fast DSM like you can have a fast Supra and still have style and class.

and why do you think i mentioned the gvr4???..:argh:
but if you cant hook on the track, try just normal driving in a 700hp supra on the street… it aint pretty ![]()
Not planning on running 700hp and not planning on leaving every stop light like Michael Schumacher after a pit stop.

hahaha that was the greatest line ever! But last night I spun all 4 tires in 2nd gear for the first time, that was fun!
VROOOOOOOOOOOOM! ![]()
edit: the front mount, rims, and side vent are all photoshopped on that supra, possibly the front bumper too ![]()

Bahhh…so what. It still looks sexy as hell. Supras out-perform all DSMs in every category except straght line speed in some situations. I’d give my left nut for a Supra…I might give a finger nail clipping for a DSM, but only if I was asked nicely.

I don’t see any supra rally cars ![]()
Doh!!

Where are the DSMs in sports car racing?
Yummy…
Rally racing is dumb anyway…if you wana drive off road get a Hummer ![]()
these are the days of our lives…
