Turbo: MUST HAVE gauges??

ok i got my turbo set up, and its going in in a few days. my question is what gauges are absolutely crucial to have? i know a boost gauge is a must if im to get gauges. what others? i have an oil pressure gauge because my stock oil warning system hads gone out. is the boost/vaccum guage better? or the boost alone? does it matter? what about fuel guage? what can i get by not having and whis ones are definate?? like i said i have the oil pressure and looking to get 2 more and if needed just a 4rth .
so thats:
-oil pressure
-boost?
-boost/vaccum?
-??
-??
thanks guys

Welp. you need a boost guage, if your going to get one spend a couple of extra dollars and get one that reads vacume. This will help you when tunning or trouble shooting vacume lines. Next you need or should have a Fuel pressure guage, EGT guage, or my last recamendation and the cheapest Air/fuel ratio guage.I would start out with at least thoes 2 and go from there if needed.
‘O’ EGT stands for Exhaust Gas Temp. if you did’n know…

thanks for the help. ill look into the gauges.

top three for me are:

EGT
boost
oil pressure

The rest don’t really matter to me. I guess an air/fuel would be nice if it were wideband. I’ve heard nothing but bad about the non-wideband ones.

I have:

boost/vacuum
air fuel/battery voltage
EGT
Electronic FP (so its inside the car instead of on the motor)

And I still don’t think thats enough. So I bought myself a portable datalogger… tells me:

knock
timing
rpm
throttle position
battery voltage
air volume
air temp
barometer
fuel trim high/med/low
o2 trim high/med/low
and a whole bunch more i can’t remember.

and will also let me run an ass load of tests on various components of the motor.

My advice to you: pick something up that tells you knock/timing advance. I couldn’t believe how crappy my car was really running even though all my gauges said it was a’ok.

how much did you data logger? run you? go ahead and email me directly at SktDvs1@hotmail.com, i think this post is pretty much dead, unless you want to post here and help future questionee’s, haha. but yea how much did the longer run, and more about it please, thanks

I doubt the datalogger I have will fit your car. I paid $100 for my logger. Some of the other honda guys will have to chime in and tell you which is best for your car.

You can go hondata if you want datalogging. It aint cheap cuz you’ll need the top model. If you’re obd-0 you’ll need a japan vtec obd-0 ecu to use hondata- or you can convert to obd-1.

Theres a bunch of smart people trying to decipher the honda ECU’s right now. It won’t be long until we have cheap datalogging.

I’m running:
Autometer oil pressure
Autometer oil temp
Autometer water temp
Autometer boost/vacuum
Autometer A/F (basically an idiot light to tell you when something is wrong, if you’re under boost and the gauge reads lean you know you’ve got a problem)

I also have a fuel rail mounted fuel pressure gauge. There is also a TPS meter in the AFC.

A in cabin fuel pressure gauge ($$$$) would be good as would an EGT($$$$$$), and a wide band A/F (also $$$$$$) would be cool.

Remember to get mechanical gauges for the pressure guages, pressure can change quickly (electric gauges react slow), electric is fine for temps since temps are slow to change

Hey Dave, summitracing sells Nordskag electric FP gauges and senders for $90. The set is $90 not $90 a piece. BADASS gauges with memory too. Thats what I’m using.
