I’m having a problem N/A or Turbo (i know that theres a thread about this already but who wants to be a thread jacker?)…but anyways…I’m not really planing on buying a turbo kit though so what is all really need besides:
-turbo, i can get a turbo for 90 bucks brandnew. Not sure what kind
-intercooler and piping, i can get it done for 300
-injectors(don’t know what size)
-ecu(don’t know what kind either!?)
-my friend has a rebuilt ls bottom end for 150
I don’t know some one fill me in! Sorry for such a newbie question…
Also about the N/A part i can get gsr head with all the necessary ls/v parts for 450…Not including high compression pistons…and shot peen rods. but acl bearings and rod bolts will be included…
Id be more specific but every time I do a parts list with prices my internet explorer crashes when im done lol.
turbo - $500 - Turbonetics / greddy ect XSPower…rofl jk
intercooler + piping - 300-350$
Blow off valve - 150-250$ - HKS / greddy
Waste gate - 200-250$ - Tial
DSM 440/450cc injectors : 60-80$
Turbo Manifold - 200-400$ depends on what style and quality.
Id be a bit more specific but every time I write 3 paragraphs my explorer crashes.
hope this helps a bit.
LSvtec is a nice build as well but needs to be done right or itll be nothing but problems by the time your done either build it will have costed you about the same for either one.
You also have to chip your ecu or run hondata, chrome, some other system! If your car is obd0 i would recomend switching to obd1 with the rywire engine conversion harness! www.rywire.com Bigger injectors, fuel pump, etc!
any turbo worth 90 bucks is not worth buying. Do yourself a favor please be more generous with your estimates, if its your first time doing this then be prepared to spend alot to boost a honda or build lsvtec that are both reliable and functional. I think all the home made turbo stuff is urban legend at this point, you need to have much experience and full knowledge about how turbocharging a car to wip together a turbo honda for almost nothing. bascially what im saying is that imo if your a newbie boosting a honda is not a cheap easy project, its just as expenive as boosting any other make/model out there, i know hondas are a cheap platform but i dont know why people keep believing it costs next to nothing. Anyone backing me up on this??
dude…I don’t know why your bashing for? Its Just a honda!..And yes i still have respect for it and its a great car but i do have money and time to fool around with it and it would be a good experience for me to fool around with it…Just to let you know this isn’t my first car…Use to own a tt z…
I don’t plan on buying a cheap ass set-up from some guy or used aftermarket parts…Although if i do go turbo i’m gonna custom my own i/c piping with my friend’s bender…But I plan on going on reliable and safe route…I should’ve made it more clearly the first time…I’m just checking my options…

If it’s planned out correctly, there is no reason why it can’t be cheap
you said you have done four, thats my point exactly if you have experience and know what your doing its possible, but not for a noobie, his original post said he can get a brand new turbo for 90 bucks and he didnt know what kind…that makes me think hes experienced enough to build a cheap/reliable setup…i was just putting in my 2cents, reading the turbo guide is helpful good luck

knowledge is important, which is why i emphasized good planning
Either way with, a 90 dollar turbo, or a rebuilt 14b or something of that matter…I just need some input on what needs to be done on how to properly build a reliable street car…If you have nothing that contains any input on this thread why bother even posting?
My question is: What is needed to run a reliable turbo setup?..(nothing that i purchase will be cheap or used) just to make it clear…And if it means i have to do 4+ setup’s i will do that…everyone has to start somewhere right…
About the bottom block i will have a completely decked bottom end with brand new “ls” piston’s honed .25 over and rings, shot peend rods, new acl bears and arp rods and head bolts. So i pretty much have the block figured out…Just need info on the turbo parts…So please…someone give me some suggestion’s on how they did their’s and what obstacles you guys took…

dude your setup got me leaning towards the turbo setup… I did two seperate spread sheets, turbo and N/A and the figure I came out with was that the turbo setup with stock internals had about 35 more hp than N/A for the same ammount of money… sick ass setup I got everything planned now all it depends on is my tax refund lol…
