Sure I’ll get flamed for it, but I’m going to ask anyways.

I’m restoring my old DA this summer (it’s in full on pathetic shape, but I think I can bring her back) and am curious what ya’ll think it would cost to fab your own turbo kit? I already have a rebuilt T3/4 turbo off of an older Saab. I don’t want to do anything crazy, probably only 3-4psi because the stock engine wouldn’t likely take much more then that.

Basically I’m just curious about the PITA factor and cost factor, as this is going to be as cheaply done as possible. To the point I’d want to keep the stock injectors even, if possible.

The cost of putting together your own kit depends on a lot of things, could be anywhere from under 1k to over 5. And 3-4psi? i would at least do 5. Running stock injectors is bad news on a FI setup. At least get some dsm 450s, they are inexpensive. I guess you could run a fuel pressure regulator if you really wanted to? not a good idea though, and probably puts a lot of stress on the injectors.
