  1. may be looking for half radiator civic depending on your manifold,

well let me explain this. im gonna be attending school at wyotech in blairsville pa this coming october. im gonna be taking a specialty class that involves learning how to build, tune and beat the crap out of high perf. motors. in turn, one of my grades is building a custom motor setup for either my own car, or a project car they give me at school. so what im planning on doing is building my car without spending gobs of money on parts that come in a kit.

while im at school i can fabricate my own manifold, downpipe, exhaust, intercooler pipes, and stuff like that. i can also make my own oil feed and return lines, and any coolant, oil, or air hoses i need while im there. so if i have the turbo before hand, i can fabricate my manifold to my cars specs and such… so im not too worried about that.

as far as EMS, boost controller, and turbo timer go… do i really need these things to set myself up with a low boost turbo setup? these are the kind of things i dont know enough about…

You should definitely look into an EMS(Engine Management System) so that you can actually Tune your car once you have everything up and running. TurboEdit for OBD0 is what I’ll go with once I’m going with it.

I would say if you are trying to build a budget project then using a good ems would allow you to get the most out of your setup, if anything dont skimp on the turbo and dont skimp on the EMS thats my advice after just finnishing my project

add money to the list

If running external gate. Just make sure toget the proper spring rate you want to boost. taht way you don’t need a boost cotroller. and no a turbo timer is not needed

A turbo timer isn’t needed but i highly recommend one… I had an 87 supra turbo and i got pretty sick of sitting and waiting for the turbo to cool down for about 2 mins each time i drove it hard. It gets old quick, i bought a blitz FATT (full auto turbo timer) and it’s a really nice convenience. And they’re really not that much either. Just my 2 cents

Just drive easy for the last 5-10 mintues of you’re driving and you’ll be fine. It should take atlerast that long before you get home anyways since it’s too dangerous to do spirited driving in city

Get the timer. $60 on a greddy TT on ebay won’t kill you considering you will spend $1500 or so on all the parts for a good well-built and long lasting turbo kit. Have fun, boost well.
