Turbo Swap

i think i already know the answer but: will a t4 turbo kit that is on a b16a in a civic hatchback fit on my b18a 92 teg?? i am thinking no due to the manifold bolt pattern and the bends in the pipes. also i don’t have a widemouth front bumper and i am not sure if the intercooler will fit in between the bumper and the radiator…i know i will have to remove the AC and the AC fan to get the turbo unit itself in… but he wants to give me a good price on it and if i can get it in my car without having to spend more money then a new kit designed for the car just to make this thing fit right then i will get it…oh and it is not a t4/03 hybrid…it a full stage 4 ball bearing turbo…oil and liquid cooled, hence that’s why i want it… thanks up front for any advice u guys can give me…

no the manifold will not bolt up to your motor. You do not want that turbo, its to big for a mostly stock motor. You will not see boost untill almost 5000.You can fit a FMIC between the rad and the stock cover. You will have to cut the metal bumper alot.

forgot to tell ya

oh i forgot to tell ya that i have a FULLY rebuilt b18a motor designed and built to run a 16psi boost… i did pistons, rods, rings, sleeves, bore and hone on the block, block guards, port and polish on the head, exedy clutch, new fuel system, new fluid system, full engine balancing, clutch balancing, cams, cam sprockets and throttle body… so not to be a d**k but do ya think i should run this turbo now?? compression is 9.1. and the car is slower than stock now… for ovious reasons… thanks though for the reply…

 Damn dude your motor must be MAD built if you have sleeves and a block guard…WOW and to be able to handle a whopping 16 psi damn you rock…Oh and a bore and hone job on top of all that!

I was not trying to be a d–k, but now since everyone including myself know that you Dont know S__T I think I will Be…

(there is nothing wrong with not knowing alot about tegs, but please dont perp like you do when ist soo obvious)

And I hope that new fluid system works out good for you!

ntroie40, Your the dork, your the one who said a manifold off of a b16 won’t fit a b18.

my bad I was guessing anways. LS is the was to rool!

so i’m full of ST huh??.. well the turbo is in… need a dyno…everything fit fine but had to purchase one custom 90 degree pipe for the intercooler… and what i ment by a new fluid system is a new water pump and lines and hoses dumb A… and yes u can reenforce the block and sleeve it. as for the 16 psi… it is built to withstand that or more without any worries…not this 9 psi crap u are all running. oh and yeah it IS A MAD BUILT MOTOR… i’d like to see u put this turbo in your stock piece of S**T! so don’t hate cause i have the money to do it right ok?.. see ya at the track ntroie40.

P.S. the oil pans swap too.

mmm if u sleeved, why do u have a block guard ? not saying it can’t be done, just wonderin why. post some dyno results or timeslips when you get some kthx.

i will post dyno results and time slips when i get all tuned up… oviously it’ll take a min because it all cost money and the car is not gonna be driven till i get it tuned properly(don’t wanna ruin the new motor). as for sleeved and block guarded?? it was recommended to me for an extra 300 for the guards just to ensure that if i ever decide to run higher than 20 psi that i will be safe… mainly he sleeved it so if i do mess up a ring or scar the wall, i just have to drop in new sleeves and not try to rebore a block that is at it’s bore capasity. in other words… just a future motor failure safty measure… make sense?? i thought so for 300… but maybe i was wrong… but when spending the amount i did…300 ain’t S**T…any more comments will be directed to me when u can meet me at the SAC RACEWAY. unless ya see me on the highway which is where i run most of the time… till then PEACE!!! pass ya later.

sleeving huh…

When you say sleeved do you mean iron ductile such as Golden Eagle, Darton ect. or stock replacement sleeves. Not trying to clown I just think it would help clear a few things up in this thread. With just a block guard and stock sleeves I and I’m sure many others would be weary of boosting 16+ psi. no matter how well it is tuned. Just my .02 Hope everything works out for ya.

Ryan

it is block guarded with sleeves… i do NOT know which sleeves they put in… i am assuming aftermarket due to the cost but…since i do everything but motor rebuilds i left that to the professionals!!..i do NOT recommend boosting with a stock motor even IF u reenforce the block…u need all internal preps to boost without worries, and will cost u less in the long run…since we all know a new motor is an expense we don’t want…it’ll cost u 5,000 at least to do it all right… parts only… and after u boost… DO NOT DRIVE OVER 3,000 RPM till u get a dyno… no sense in blowing a new motor just to rev on a guy not worth your time…now u CAN run 6 to 9 psi with a stock motor if u reenforce the block and do a full engine balance though i do not recommend it…as for 16 psi+…money yo…money…do it right…

Not to be a dick here… but you really need to get in writing what parts were used in your motor. I does sound like you might have been taken (sleeves and block gaurd), so if the shop that did the motor didn’t do something they “said” they did, you are screwed if you blow your motor without anything in writing.

BTW It is a REAL bad idea to just tell a shop to build a block to take 16psi… and then just fork over money.

When you run 23psi on the street come talk to me :gay:

hey formz TSi. i looked at your web site and if the talon is the car u are talking about with 23psi…u need to update your site cause one it says u are running 18psi and two…i don’t see an intercooler through the bumper of that car…not to be a d**K…lol:sleep:

uh… I don’t run 23psi on a daily basis. I run 18 on pump gas, 23 on race gas. And the intercooler is a sidemount intercooler in the passenger side fender. I can see you don’t know too much about DSMs do you.

MAD MONEY YO, Ya you might have a few bucks in your car but you dont even know whats in it. How gay is that!

I will bet anything that I have double the money in my car. But I will not go there…

look it is pointless to argue this anymore…neither one of us is gonna see the other persons car or get a chance to race… as for not knowing about the side mount intercooler…your right i don’t know about that…this is an integra club…not a talon club. and i know what’s in my car thanks.

exactly, you don’t know about DSMs so don’t talk like you do. I however, DO know about integras.

Quick note on the sleeves. If they are stock/replaced stock with a guard, dont take it past ten. $300 is not a lot of money. A guard at a bad price is $120 and a quality hone and bore job can bring you to $300. A set of true sleeves start at about $420 for Dartons and the cost to install, deck, and hone are going to run you to about $700+ all together. I just don’t want you to pop a motor you’ve already spent so much on. Consider a block girdle also. The stock crank is fine but a girdle from z-10 will just keep it all together.

TSI, what kind of turbo are you running?

Ya what kind of turbo are you running, and what times?

I have a 91 TSI also, and I just installed a 14b on it. (automatic)
with a 2.5 buschur full exhaust. Runs 13.8

I have a 16g to put on but I want to get it rebuilt and the guy broke the shaft taking it apart. damn reverse thread…
