turbo tunning question

i have a b18a1 with a factory crank, eagle rods, and factory pistons. nothing has been done to the head as of yet, but eventually i will be getting a set of cams for the car. i’m currently going to be running a mitsu t25 turbo at 10psi. just curious to see what kind of a/f people are tunning at and/or power numbers with the factory pistons. also t3 or t3/o4 numbers and tuning a/f would be nice as i am upgrading to that style turbo later down the road. thanks guys.

your a/f ratio will always be the same no matter what turbo your using. any way, your tuner will know what to do.

expect anywhere from 180-210whp with the t25 at 10psi. your whole setup will affect what power your specific application will make. but it’ll be in that range.

stock pistons-- 11.5-11.8 AFR

ok im new to tuning, but i know that my a/f will not always be the same no matter what turbo im using. and my tuner is me. im doing this entire thing by myself. i know my a/f will depend on amount of boost and size of turbo + size of injectors and injector pulse width. but also i am running a full 2.5" downpipe then a 3"exhaust with a little something special on the end of it. but i will not mention this as for ideas may be stolen. i will post pics when its done so people can drool over it. trust me definately worth lookin around for when i start my build page. as for the block and head, factory crank and pistons on eagle hbeam rods. the head and block will be separated by a cometic head gasket and held together by arp studs. also a nice set of cams to accomidate the turbo. tuned using turbo edit for the obd0 platform and fueled by a walbro 255 and injected through 450cc dsm’s. so yea if its anything short of 200hp i will be deeply dissapointed and moving to a t3 quicker than planned.

no what he means is the ideal afr is always the same it doesnt matter how its boosted…

of course when u start tuning there will b a bench mark usually rich, this is y u tune to maintain the ideal afr, itll b the same no matter how much boost etc.

oh ok gotcha. i thought he ment like no matter what turbo i put on it will be the same a/f before i tune it, i was like wtf. my bad dude. but yea i talked to one of the local tuners who has done work on tegs before and he recomended around 11.5. And from what ive been reading thats a good place to go, so thats what im going to aim for.

yeh mines around 11-12 but i wouldnt mind gettin some more timing in it…

11.5 is a little rich. but if your not to familiar with tuning its safer to tune a little rich then a little lean. my af at wot is around 12.2-12.4. to give you an idea, my stock b18a with a gt2871r at 8psi made 208whp, and 300whp at 18psi.

nice. im never looking to go over 400 with this thing. its just going to be a very peppy daily driver. but from what im gathering 11.5 is about a good spot on the factory pistons.
