Turboedit + PR

Does TurboEdit support pr4 ecu’s? I read somewhere they didnt and I would need a pm6, but someone said its just because of the boost code, but that somepeople used pm6 code int eh pr4? Has anyone had luck with the pr4? If I use the pr4, do I just use the pm6 code? Im really lost and an explanation of everything would be greatly apprected! Thanks!

Also, does anyone happen to have a basemap they can send me?

:search: pgmfi.org

I have, and havemnt come up with much…anyone?

i am pretty sure ya can. not positive tho.

btw u gonna come to a meet this year. assuming we have 1?

Sure, Id love to, just depends where it is. Let me know, Im definitely interested!

Can anyone help me with all this? I wish I had money for Hondata, but I have to do this, and I have no clue so any help would be great if someone could explain it all and let me know if its doable! Thanks!

i know its been over a few times on pgmfi.org. if not ask jason himself. i am tryin to get a honda-tech meet setup for march, but im sure we will ahve another g2ic meet around here. last one was at palisades mall. peace

Sure, Ill definitely come by, if its Connecticut thats close enough…cant wait man, if you could contact me when you do that would be great, xxxmikenicexxx@hotmail.com thanks.

If you setup a meet this year…you damn well better show up at it!!!

Mikenice,

I am very much into TurboEdit/PGMFI/ blah blah blah and all that comes with it. IM me @ xenocron1 sometime and Ill go over it with you specifically.

For anyone else that might read this:

TurboEdit is a ROM Editor…which means its a piece of software that is used to support any features that are HARD CODED into the ROM, and gives the user a GRAPHICAL INTERFACE to change the values of the fuel & ignition tables of the Honda ECU.

The ROM, which has been developed over the past year or so by the elders of PGMFI.org, is total re-engineer or the Honda STOCK code which is programmed onto the “chip” which in stock form is soldered to the ECU, or if an ECU is “chipped” generally there is a socket that allows you change chips easily without de-soldering anything and without damaging anything. The ROM code has been changed to accept positve pressure in the manifold (boost) without tripping the CEL light (and you dont have to add any Missing Links or check valves). Other features have been added in as well like a *dual map, speed limiter is disabled, rev limit altering, *injector sizing, *boost cut, *3 bar support and others. The *'d features as well as others are still being tested although the ROM is always being enhanced.

The thing to remember is that this code has been based on the code from a PM6 ECU and for use in a PM6 ecu. Many of the ODB0 ECU’s are very similar in coding and internal hardware of the ECU’s so different ODB0 ECU’s can run this same code. A PR4 can run this code but you will have a variety of issues that may or may not arise. I have run one version in a PR4 ECU that seemed to work well and run without any CEL lights so it can be done, but how reliably I am unsure as I didnt really test it out to long.

I suggest getting a chipped PM6 and learning from there, and either keeping your stock PR4 as a backup or selling to recover some $$$

Like I said, I am willing to help any many members or G2 with their TurboEdit roots because we need more people testing and understanding whats going on to do better things and make it further.

There are a lot of things on the horizon, the biggest two being REAL TIME PROGRAMMING & DATALOGGING from the ECU…nice!!!

I’m attempting to learn as much as I can about editing roms etc. I am wondering about using a chipped pm6 with pr4 tables in the rom, set up for boost, but I cannot figure out if the wiring at the ecu is the same for both ecu’s.

I also have an 88 civic hatch with a lot of wiring and engine changes, and it runs off of a pr4 ecu, but when I put a pm6 on it, I get codes galore and it runs in limp mode.

not asking for support on that, just making sure that if I throw a chipped pm6 with pr4 tables into my integra that I am not going to have to change wiring too much.

you can plug the ecu right in as long as you have decent ls maps in it.
just curious what codes u throwin?

don’t remember what codes it’s throwing, I’ll check it out tonight.

fyi, it’s an 88 civic dx with mpfi conversion, d16y8, single wire vtec and fuel by an afc. no resistor box (obd2 injectors). we had a hayday with the wiring.

actually i just ran the new pgmfi rom on my automatic pr4 and everything works except i get a real lumpy idle and through the rpm range… must be due to my manual conversion and the fact i had to snip a few pins…

Lumpy idle is really the only issue with the new ROM…its nothing you did.

Some people have had better luck by letting the car fully warm up(12-20 minutes or two cycles of the fan) before they touch anything in the car. The ECU is still a self learning ECU and after a hard reset needs to figure a few things out, one of them being idle.

Seems as if it get a proper chance to do this from the bat, the lumpy idle is better than if you just start and take off.

the lumpy idle is just a 150-200rpm bobble right? if so then im ok. i just ran it for 15min and thats the only issue.

Mine bobbles from like 1000 upto 1300 or so…i think its an injector cut off thing but they havent quite figured it out yet.

i ran it for most of today pretty decently. most of the time it bobbled from like 1300-1450, but then later tonite it started to do the big bouncing from 900-1400 until i revved it a little and it would stabilize again…

are you running the dual map boost bin? i would just run a stock program Mugen or Jun BIN until you actually get boosted…you dont have a wideband do you?

And just so you know, the stable BIN is VERY lean from the get go on our b18a engine…im talking like 26 AFRs while idling…that may have something to do with your stall issues and jerking.

no im running the n/a bin with pr4 maps. ya i cant take it anymore, im switching back to a regular rom. nope no wb yet.

26 while idling? is this even if you run different maps? im pretty sure mine is auto ecu/EGR related…
