hey guys, ive done a lot of searching on turbos and how it worked out for you all and also done a lot more searching and a lot more thinking about the auto to manual swap… i just want every ones opinion on if its a good idea to turbo my automatic… its just im tired of being beat by all these stock tegs with standards…a lot of people told me to just sell my teg for a standard, but ive already put a lot of money on my modes, and put a b20 head on my b18b block…and the switch well the switch seems a pain to do. so let me know if turbo is a good choice. thanks
Do the swap. I had an auto tranny built for 1k, ended up selling it for half that and swapping. Turbo + auto = risky +expensive in our cars.
From what I’ve read, torque converters don’t get along with boost very well.
Do NOT turbo your Auto it is not worth it if you want to go faster buy a 5-speed car and upgrade. It will be less expensive. I have seen many turbo cars like 89-96—civics, integra, eclipses going between $4000-6000 in good condition
if you turbo your car you will break the torque converter within a year with hard launching that is what a clutch is for to take the load of hard launching and transfer it to power
Its doable- but like everyone else says- your tranny, more specifically your torque converter won’t be able to handle it. Remember its all about how your car works together, not just the motor. You’re going to have a lot of power that won’t make it to the ground, thats money wasted. But it’ll prolly hold up for a while if you set your goal for a little less than 200hp- So like…maybe 5psi…MAYBE
Level-ten makes aftermarket torque converters with differents stall speeds if your determaned to keep the auto. Better have deep pockets though.
