upcoming autox season

what is everyone doing to prepare (if anything) for the upcoming autox season? i finally did a few mods to my car over the winter. got s.t. sway bars, energy suspension bushings, and an iceman CAI…i need more money for real.

What class are you running in? STS?

yea i’m in STS. i wasn’t winning much last year unless it was raining (the great equalizer), but i wasn’t getting dominated either, so i should be able to do much better this season.

 THis is gonna be my first autox season:p
I guess im in STS, i dunno though.
CAI, DC header, Greddy MX
HR Springs
Tokico Illuminas (4F, 5R)
16" Paradas for the time being

Then, in March…I’ll add…
Greddy FUSB
Oglesport…
RUSB
RLTB
CPillar

Then sometime soon after that…
Falken Azenis on my stock wheels:D

Then this summer…
Rebuild the bottom end

i’d get the tires before you go and put all that other stuff to your suspension. just seems to me that if you stiffen up you suspension too much then go autox without decent tires, you’ll be understeering all over the place. but welcome to autocrossing, and prepare yourself for the addiction.

My civic lost about 30 lbs and is getting a new clutch (if hybrid garage ever fucking ships it), shaved flywheel, CTR N1 pulley, little battery, and DA prop valve. if I can afford it then I will be buying a set of victoracers but that doesnt look good right now.

Other than that I am increasing the rear camber.

Ben

mmmmm victoracers…all i can afford are falken azenis for the time being…pretty damn good for the money though

yeah, my azenis are still in decent condition so i cant really justify new tires.

ben

save $$ so i can apply for membership or pay at the door for my first run…

just replaced an azenis down to the cord. just need to get an alignment and if it checks out then i guess im ready, otherwise ill need to replace the xmember. OR let that corner ride on the crappy positive camber.

anywho, manual swap, es inserts, exhaust ‘tuning’. oh ya and i need to do ben’s DIY corner weighting heh.

I’m still undecided on what I’m doing. My best STS competion has all left the class. I think I’ll probably keep the car in STS trim and run PAX/PRO with it.

For autoX I’ll be buying 14" Azenis for now and later switch to 15" Kumho MXs. I also have to buy some Ecsta V700s for Solo-I by april.

Mods to the 67 car:
-Needs camber correction (don’t know which camber kit is best yet).
-I would like polyurethane bushings
-Maybe a header, mostly for weight saving. Otherwise I’ll keep the stock engine configuration that I’ve been using for 2 seasons.
-Hopefully I’ll have money left over to improve its appearance too.

Goals:
-For autoX I want to do better at the Bremerton NT and hold my own in PAX.
-For Solo-I, I just want to do better, I need to improve my Bremerton time by 1.5sec and I’m hoping the addition of R-compound tires will allow for this. Chasing down a EG hatch with highly modified B18C5 is not easy. I think I can handle him at Pacific raceways though.
-Finish the ITA car by summer or at least make it run.

Lastly, a tow hitch for the Montero so I can ride in a comfy car to and from events:)

i wanna start racing my teg

all you need to autox is a car that passes tech (or a buddy’s car), ~$20, and a day to spend. You may not be competitive but you can still race and have fun.

Ben

i’m also looking into getting ground controls with koni yellows pretty soon and then i’ll go ahead and get a header and new exhaust. but, after looking around, i really have no idea what header or exhaust system i should get. i know all headers do basically the same thing and i’ll probably just go with a dc sports header but the exhaust is where i have no idea what to get. as well as autocrossing, i also drive my integra everyday so i don’t want something that will be extremely loud but something that is less restrictive would be great. i also don’t really feel like spending 600 bucks on exhaust. could i basically just go to a local exhaust shop and tell them what i want and they’d probably be able to do it for me? i just want a cat-back exhaust with mandrel bends at about 2.25" tubing and a muffler with a non buzz sound. i know i keep hearing about rs*r and i’ve been looking into that but if i could find something cheaper it would be great. any suggestions are welcome.

a local guy did my 2.25" manrel bent exhaust for $80 then I bought a magnaflow from shucks. It sounds good.

Ben

MAGNAFLOW!..sorry, i was trying to think of their name for like 5 hours tonight. anyway, which one did you get?

I dunno, a small one.

Ben

im going to go to a couple of events in st. louis. solo II, i think.
i probably wont be competitive, but it will be fun.

My setup.
tein ss
ingalls front, washers rear.

Soon:
ST rear sway
falken azenis (please vote on my poll in my other thread
)
bushings(maybe)
brembo blanks all corners
hawk hps pads all corners
