Unfortunately my Oldskool Azenis RT-215’s are just about done, so I am in the market for new tires.
I want something aggressive looking, good on the street for daily use, with a strong sidewall that will function well on the track occasionally. The tire MUST have a somewhat decent tread wear cuz I will be using them daily (300min)
I know which tires I “want” but cannot afford to break the $100 mark per tire
I will be running a 205/50/15 all the way around and here are my picks so far
BF Goodrich ge-force Sport ($79ea)
Yokohama S Drive ($84ea)
Nitto Neo Gen ($68ea)
Fuzion ZRi ($74ea)
Out of the 4 tires, I have used the ZRi in 205/40/17 & 205/50/15 and loved them, I wouldn’t mind owning them again however I am exploring my options.
PLEASE REPLY WITH YOUR FEEDBACK ON ANY OF THESE TIRES OR ANY OTHERS YOU MAY HAVE HAD A GOOD EXPERIENCE WITH
What about the Falken 912s?? Don’t know exact price for that size, but I got mine for $95 each. 195/50/16. They also carry a 40,000 mile warranty. The UTQG in 360-AA-A.
My favorite tires of all time were my 205/40-17 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3. My current tires are 215/40-17 Dunlop Sport Maxx, and they are pretty good as well (liked the Goodyear a little better). 205/45-16 Yokohama Parada Spec2 were okay… probably along the lines of Azenis (maybe a little better… not so sketchy in the rain like Azenis). 195/60-14 Yokohama H4S were really good as well… much better grip than the Parada Spec2. My main criteria are if the tire will stick to the pavement in wet and dry. I did a lot of research before buying my last set of tires most decently performing tires on our cars get about 25K. Mileage warranties are a joke… just read lots of reviews on Tire Rack and Discount Tire with similar cars and you can usually figure out what you will get out of a set of tires and how it will perform.
Yokohama S Drive is the only one on your list that I would really consider.
Man, you americans are so lucky that you can get tires for so cheap… I shopped around for weeks before I found a pair of hancooks for $114 a tire.
The only cheaper tire was a sumo akina that is a knockoff junk chinese tire. I would have chosen any one of those over these!
I cant say the hancooks are too bad though… They are very grippy and VERY smooth. I wish that the sidewalls werent made out of flubber though! Yay jello tires. Oh well, I bought them for rain and snow specifically and will be getting others in the spring/summer…
None of these tires are rated above a 200 treadwear rating…for that I wouldn’t even look at anything else and pick up another set of Azenis! I need something more along the lines of DD usage as I am driving her more these days…I love my Azenis!
And the Good Year Eagle F1 GS-D3 is a bad ass tire too! Only they avg $160+ per tire and not available in a 15" diameter!
dunlop fm901 or advan ao43 great tires in wet and dry i hate toyo tires! kumho are great tires,it hard to choose cause differnt tires/ your suspension combo all play a factor if you wanna choose the best tire idk
The Dunlop’s don’t have very good ratings at all, and way to expensive! The Yoko’s are nice too, but the same with $$
I do understand that their are many far superior tires to what I have posted for my selection, but unfortunately my budget is a little smaller than I would like this time around, so I have to find a tire that meets my needs as best as possible within my price range…
I’m really diggin the Yokohama S-Drives. Maybe i’ll get over to a tire shop and take a looksy. I still have a few weeks before I can make the purchase…
Anyone have any experience with the BF-G’s?? My buddy has a set on his DA and he likes them, but he is only 1 person.
[QUOTE=da92nv;2092853]I would like to get as many as possible, at least 1.5yrs? so about 20k miles maybe??
The 912’s are a nice performance summer tire but I would not really consider them for any track time…
My only glitch on the Neo Gens is aesthetically they are not really a good looking tire…(sidewall)
This may sound crazy, but that is extremely important to me as well…It has to look good! Neo Gens are kinda plain
pic of the ride…

I thought the same thing about the Neo Gens but they grew on me. And a huge plus on the Neo Gens is if you have camber issues, which I do, the lack of wear is amazing. I have had them for around 6 months and barely any wear is showing at all where as when I had the Falken 912’s they would already be showing quite a bit of wear.
Not the best pic of them on my car cuz its a lil dark, but like I said, they grew on me. Good luck on you decision though hope any of this helps
