The valve cover from our race car. Hard to tell from this angle, but there’s just a hint of pink under the gold :giggle:

been meaning to post my “Smurf Bukakke”:

that was when it was “in process” i applied a lot more blue.

cell phone pic, sorry for the quality
installed. the base color actually changes a little bit. Its base color is black, but depending on the angle you look at, it will go from black, to a dark blue, to an almost gray color.

first few coats of paint were “Ford Blue” (which looks terrible). Then I applied a slight mist of “aluminum flake” to it. Then, I covered it with one complete coat of flat black. That alone had a cool finish to it, but I felt like I should keep going with it. I then did a very slight mist (it is extremely subtle) of Ford Blue again. Almost unnoticeable  Then I proceeded to have Papa Smurf and all his buddies bust nuts all over it. Then I applied about 30 million coats of clear :giggle:

looks good colin

I like that! I think it would look good with red sperm as well

i can do one for you if you want. just have to send me a valve cover and $50 to cover the cost of paints and shipping it back

i could really, probably do any color you want.

i’m pretty good at valve-covers, so if you want something, just ask

:bump:

My friend just started working on mine, so hopefully it will be done soon. I know he has the accent color down, just some masking, the other color, and a shit load of clear.

I know somebody on here watches Aqua Teen Hunger Force… this is my latest addition.

fukin love mooninties lol “uh my dad owns a dealership” lol

snowguy you valve covers are always so sexy… i wish you would tell me how you do them like that :frowning:

you know it kinda looks like spraying the wet paint with a air blast to spread the paint …

I was thinking more on the lines of wrinkled saran wrap…then peeled off for the effect…looks awesome!

it is a possibility i did that for my plaque on my lowrider

I’m pretty sure crafts stores sell paint that does this effect automatically, almost like wrinkle paint.

Called “Crackle Paint”

next to impossible to find in my area :frowning:

I’m looking for it for a customer’s valve cover.

^ I know nothing about paint, as I only work with Powder and Ceramic coatings. Can’t get as creative though!

I thought i read something saying to spray your base color, let it dry. spray the top cover and before it dries spray your clear. Not sure if I’m thinking of the right method though.

you read it right the one i saw said you mix diluted elmers glue then brush it on then do the top color and when it dries the cracks will appear
