Ok i have did some reading but jus need a lil more help to pin point the problem for a friend.
he has a built 84mm gsr turbo. and just recently his car began to smoke a blue/white smoke and u can smell the smell of burning oil. so when he start his car up in the morning it smokes some but once he drives it partial throttle it goes away until he decels, then u see the smoke again, once he is sitting at a light a cloud of smoke comes from the exhaust. so w i told him to get on it to see if it smokes and it blows a small puff of smoke then it doesnt smoke while he is in boost. can someone help me pin point this.
valve seals.
tell him to get a good PCV system next time around.
sounds more to rings with me… when my valve seals went bad it was only smoking under vtec.
idle and part throttle not a drop… vtec… clouds
if it were the rings it would be billowing smoke under boost.
when a car idles or especially at startup the oil leaks down into the cylinder from up top, through the valve seals.
to each is own opinion.
do a compression test
then a leak down test

do a compression test
then a leak down test[/QUOTE]
I would say thats the best way to figgure it out right now, i would 2nd the vavle seals with the information givin.
he said boost probably a bad tune and too tight wall clearance:umno:
do a compression test, could be the turbo seal starting to go out
