i saw a pretty sweet deal on some vogtland springs with gr-2 shocks. two questions, has anyone used vogtland springs? and will the shocks wear out faster since the springs lower the car 1.8"?
i read some reviews on the vogtland products and some say they are better then tien, H&R and the like.
ok well i just got my suspension installed and im totaly happy. these springs rock. they are nice and comfortable, and dont hurt on dips and bumbs too much. they make my teg handle like a freaking go cart. once i hit a corner these things get nice and hard and when paired up to the kyb gr2 they are the shit.
i read it in some of the lexus, bimmer forums on the the net when looking up info on them. i guess 80% of the nascar cars use these springs on thier cars. from my experience they are aswome for the price and i would recommend them for any g2 member here. also my shocks are custome valved for these springs.
What the hell…I’m always up for a new competitor in the suspension biz. What info is available on these springs (ie. spring rates, drop distance, etc.)? If anyone’s got this info I’d like to get it.
The person that bought these already has em. I think. He doesnt check this post i guess. He said he scored the whole deal for like 3-something which is damn cheap…hence all of us wanting more info
Vogtland also happens to build springs for some of Koni’s suspension kits and uses Koni dampers in some of its own kits, but that’s not why T.C. chose it. Vogtland’s springs are lighter and have more travel than others he considered, and “that’s what we wanted.”
(Vogtland’s secret technology is its VVS wire. Produced in only one mill, the steel contains a proprietary alloying element that allows a high-tensile spring material to be worked at higher stress levels without fatigue problems. The wire manufacturing process is more costly, and Vogtland has to do some of its own post-coiling processing to improve fatigue characteristics. The result is that thinner wire can be used, reducing weight and allowing the spring to compress a greater distance from a given free length before it reaches coil bind. Vogtland North America’s president, Richard Jonec, mentioned that the weight reduction for TC Kline Racing’s rear springs was about 35%, especially notable.)
im not sure what the spring rates on these are exactly but i think they are like 300+? front, 210 rear. somewhere around there is what the rep told me.
that looks really good, I just ordered this same setup off ebay. i cant wait to get tham in the mail. Do you have a camber kit, or camber issues? and did it turn out to be about a 2 inch drop?
it lowered the car as advertised, so im happy. oh yeah the short springs go in the front and the long ones go in the rear. you will need a spring compressor when taking apart the front springs. thats the only time you will use it. i used dropzone camber kits for the front only, you can do the rear with the washer trick. make sure you get it aligned right after.
I just got my vogtlands and GR-2’s installed yesterday, and they are amazing. My boss helped me put them on, and when i gave him a ride home he said it rode as smooth as his Mercedes! I am very pleased with the way they ride over bumps and the amount of drop it gave me. Not to mention the improved cornering, and almost zero body roll. I will get it alligned and try to take pics and post them up this weekend.
i have a question, its not exactly regarding these springs. i had my car aligned yesterday and the shop said they couldn’t correct my camber at all, said i’d need a camber kit to correct it, the did correct the toe angle though, it was terrible. they only charged me 30 bucks since it wasn’t a complete alignment job. anyway, my question is this, i know all about how to do the rear camber adjustment trick but my question is this, if i use the same size washers (example) that the teg tips section uses, about how much will one washer correct the camber, how many degrees or fraction of a degree will it correct. my rear camber isn’t exactly that bad, my front is a little rough but the car handles AMAZINGLY WELL. oh yeah, i am using Tein S-Tech Springs on stock shocks, the springs didn’t lower my car that bad, as a matter of fact, i can still get two fingers in the gap at all four corners, call it 1 1/2 fingers cuz its a real tight fit but you ge the picture, my cars stance is perfect. the shocks are responding to the springs fine too. the ride is EXTREMELY comfortable and when i hit bumps, it doesn’t make the car jolt real bad or anything. its retarded how smooth the ride is. i test drove an 05 RSX type-s that (in my opinion) “ain’t got shit” on my cars ride quality. anyway like i asked, if i use the same size washers (example) that the teg tips section uses, about how much will one washer on each bolt, correct the camber? as in how many degrees or fraction of a degree will the washer correct. and where can i source a longer bolt if necessary, autozone? just curious. Thanks in advance. i’m getting a new digital cam for christmas, my cheap one broke (well lost in driveway, only to be run over the morning i went to put my springs on damn it) and will post pics of the drop.
