i think it’s suppost to be the way i have it. the bov is constantly open at idle, even idling @ 800rpm… and when i block it, i can hear & feel air comming out of the compressor from the intake…
and also while driving, i get annoyed by the constant whistling unless im on the throttle a certain ammount… i’d like to adjust the bov so it’s tighter, and doesnt open while cruising…
what’s the best way to set it up? will having air going back out of the compressor damage anything?
eh, there’s about 3 of us here… but im just worried, as a regular turbo setup, without a bov, or a stuck bov, you get compressor surge, and it’s suppost to be really bad, and possible to blow seals… but im just not sure if same applies here…
I think your best bet for reliability of your set up(and not spending an arm and a leg on a replacement supercharger) would be to keep the BOV set the way it came from vortech. Compressor surge will effect a centrifical supercharger the same way it would a turbo. It may be more noisy than you would like, but it’s the only way your supercharger has to release boost pressure while the vehicle has the throttle plate closed.
i haven’t done my reading on s/c but ive done turbos so a bov should be the same concept on a s/c right? what bov is it? does it have an adjuster like a greddy type does? or is there a heavier spring u can put in?
yea same shit applies. if it’s the vortech bov there is a nut on the top of the bov you tighten or loosen to change the sound. my friend had a greddy bov on his eclipse which is the same design and it went from being silent when he got it to being sick loud once we fucked around with it. and all bov’s should be open at idle.
why use a fake version of the bov you have? just play with the adjustment nut u fool. where the hell have u been anyways? i havent seen u on aim in years.
do you still have the intercooler from the vortech kit?
Most bov’s will be open at idle because the motor is makng vacuum which in turn pulls the valve open. as soon as you blip the throttle, itshould close. as for whistling at part throttle. again. it’s cause you are in vacuum. SC is putting out a bit of pressure which then escapes the BOV which open a tiny bit which makes it whistle. adjust it tighter to help with the part throttle whistle.
o man my computer was lagging before. ahahah. i think i kinda want a vortech ic on my g2 with my greddy turbo kit. all i have to do is relocate the prop valve right? what happend to b17vortech anyways? who are the 2 other ppl with vortech charged g2’s?
