Im not too big on the loud anoying exhaust that a lot of 4-bangers have, no offense, but i like the performance. so i was wondering what are some good mufflers that give you a performance gain but arent loud when just cruising. i dont mind it so much if im racing but i hate hearing it when im just cruising around town. my friend has a pulsar with a flowmaster and its anoying.

If you are looking for some performance and a bit of deep tone, go with a borla. I put a universal 2 1/4" inlet/outlet. Its a bit quiter than i would have liked but deffinatley added a few Hp. Can’t hear the exhaust from in the car which is nice at highway speeds but makes a bit of noise if you hear it drive by…hope that helps…

Quiet Exhaust
I just got a 92 gsr and i was wondering what would be a good quiet exhaust something a little louader than stock. I was looking at the Thermal SS catback or the DC sports which would be better
also are their any that come just axle back?
DC Sports will be quiet. Thermal will be louder.
the other quiet exhaust unfortunately are no longer in production. But if you’re lucky and look hard enough (like me ) you can find an HKS Sport (stock size dual tips - LES H09 is the part #) or an RSR exhaust.
unfortunately most people nowadays want loud deep exhausts so companies aren’t trying to make “sleeper” exhausts anymore :sleep: good luck!

What is the quietest (is that a word) exhaust you can buy. I really hate the sound of rice boy lawn mower or weed eater exhusts, is that cuz most of them are universal tunable exhausts. I want a clean sounding quiet exhaust. Any recomendations?

many people rave about the rsr exhaust.
RS*R and Greddy are both excellent looking/performing systems that are quiet.

I’ve heard that the HKS were discontinued here in the states…the guy at an authorize dealer told me that a while back when i wanted to get 1. He said the only way to get 1 is to have it shipped from Japan. Not sure how much of that is true though.
I really like the look of the HKS…it looks very stock, which is nice to keep the pigs away.

DC Sport Catback all the way. Even with crower 403’s and a carsound high flow cat, this baby is QUIET. I would say without a high flow and cams, it would be quieter than stock at idle, but still has that deep roar at WOT.
Want a quiet exhaust? What I used…
I just got my exhaust installed, let me tell you, it is as quiet as stock. It only gets a little louder as VTEC comes on! What I used was:
I am extremely happy with the setup, noticable power gains and quiet operation! I will try and get a sound recording of it…
PS - this is all bolted up to a B17A with a DC 4-2-1 header.
how much did that cost you? typically its very hard to find a place that’ll do mandrel bends.

There is a little sound, but at idle is quiet. A little louder then stock. Almost like the ITR. I am very happy with it. I’ll see if I can get a sound clip.
Before I had an aftermarket (cant remember the brand) axle back universal, I had the shop next door put it on, they f’ed the whole thing up, took out the resinator, the pipe was rubbing etc… that shop SUCKED, so I got fed up with it and went to minike and put a stocker on (and resonator), I actually feel like I have more torque… So since that experience Ive been wary to get an exhaust (I dont have enough asprins to cover driving to and from work everyday at 4-5k)
I like the sound of the engine over anything imo
