i have a b18a with a ys1 tranny. i am runnin a t3/t4 turbo, with a bunch of extras. but i can only rev to like 6800. turbo pulls at like 3200, and revs to redline so fast. so question is, is it the tranny or the motor that allows the rev. if its the tranny then what tranny revs high and will be compatible with the b18a cable tranny. if its not the tranny then what is it. i would like to have a nice rev to like 8K or somethin
u have an ls. If u rev to 8k ur rods will snap and ur engine will be ruined. The rev limited is there because that is all that it can do. And ur rev limiter is in ur ecu.
to rev that high, you would need to build your engine to handle it. rods, pistons, valve train, camshafts and modify your ECU to 8K.
ok cool thanx for the input. i plan on building my motor even though most dont reccomend that you build the b18a.
i have a second motor sitting aroun, so i am just goin to get all the parts then have the machine shop build it for me. i allready have some parts for the head. and hopefully by that time i will be able to afford the aem engine management and get a sweet tune.
thanx
Revving any higher without upgrading valvetrain won’t gain you any power either with an LS. The flow peak out up there. On the dyno we’ve revved two turboed DA’s up over 7k and power drops off.
the b18a makes a lot of power for the money, especially built. Just gey headwork done, bottom end re-enforced and balanced, and you can rev real high. I was talking to a guy at a machine shop, he said that he could build a honda motor that could safely rev to 10k, it wouldnt be cheap but it is possible. Something like that would be more work than it is worth.
