Well i thought i finally got all the kinks worked out of my setup and went to get it street tuned on crome pro. well first 2 pulls it kept spiking to 15lbs even though theres only a 6lbs spring in my tial 35mm wastegate. so we unhooked the boost controller thinking maybe it was it and put a 9lbs boost cut on it and did about 2/3 more pulls and it just kept hitting boost cut instead of stopping at 6lbs. well he said he had never heard of that kind of problem and couldnt tune it, well next day it started smoking and my friends think its the rings, so time for rebuild. but anybody ever heard of that problem happening with a wastegate?
sounds like you have a 10psi or greater spring in there  get a spring new from tial that is rated at around 4 or 6 psi, or a spring from a local shop maybe.
if you purchased it used its hard to say what the hells inside it. i hope you left the top port open if you’re not runnin an EBC. side port imo should go to the intake manifold. thus you get a little quicker spool. take the wg apart
the spring colors could be referenced on
forcedperformance.net
go to " tial wastegates" and " tial wastegate springs" you can purchase new springs there plus theres a color/psi chart.
The guy i bought it from said it was a 6lbs spring. so when me and my tuner ran into problems we took the wastegate apart and looked at the spring and it was red and he said by the feel it was a small one, but just to make sure he took the wastegate apart on his car to check cause it used a big spring. and sure enough there was a big difference and mine was obviously a small red one. and yes i had the top port open, i did have a ebc but we unhooked it thinking it was the problem but it wasnt. so most likely while im doing the new motor build ill save up and just buy a new 38mm from a website.
well let me know check out my sponsor forum for some pricing.
in addition what kinda manifold do you have ?
Thank you, and i have just a cheap xs power manifold, the equal length manifold i think it is. maybe that have something to do with it?
