wastegate questions

Alright i have a couple of questions about my Turbonetics deltagate wastegate…On the gate it has a vaccum thing on the top…and it has one on the side/bottom of the gate that says boost…this runs to the turbo right? What runs to the hole that says vaccum on the top? Also is it true that you can adjust the psi by the bolt on top of the gate? Im assuming that my wg has a 9psi spring in it because thats what it runs at with no boost controller…can someone explain this to me?

I had the same Wastegate on my LS/VTEC (it came with my kit). You are correct, the one the side/bottom goes to the turbo. Nothing goes to the top, I left mine open.

As far as adjusting the psi by adjusting the bolt, I think its false. I never tried it, but Im assuming its false. You can hook a manual boost controller between vacum line that runs from the turbo to the wastegate.

u run it from the turbo to the wastegate, but dont connect ur boost gauge/any vac lines, since the turbo isnt in vacuum.

i’d be weary about runnin the deltagate. the side port is for positive pressure. the top port should ONLY be used for electronic boost controllers. the top adjustment bolt is made to be an adjustment for small increments. if you really wanna do the cheap way to raise boost you coudl take it apart and pack it with some washers. but the deltgates a faulty design. i woudln’t risk blowing my motor becuase of it.

Hey, man the deltagate wastegate is ok wastegate but i had one and it used to creep on me in boost so be careful mine b16 spiked 14psi only once and i cracked 4 ring lance so thanks to that wastegate i am having to build my motor again. i would just buy a tail wastegate they are very liable and they dont creep atleast not that i know of

I dont have the money for a tial gate…prolly because i am rebuilding my motor completley right now becauese it was already blown up. When i took the gate off the port on the side that says BOOST (one that goes to the turbo) was hooked up to my intake mani…will this work or should i hook it back up to the turbo?

If you spent THAT much money on rebuilding it, don’t skimp out on a $197 part shipped. There’s no sense in even risking blowing up that brand new rebuild on a part so cheap. And yes, LSD motorsports is having a sell on there Tial wastegates for $197 shipped. Just my opinion.

Ok…let me see here…im a 17 year old kid with no job…bought the car by selling my other one…found out it was blown up, then got 500 bucks back from the seller…ordered a jdm b16 short block for 400 and i also have to spend 320-390 on repairing the head…so now im in like 300 over my limit and borrowing from my parents…theres no way i can swing another 200 bucks.

If you’re a 17 year old kid with no job then why are you spending every last dime on building a motor? Just get a used ls and call it a day.

Chris

Sorry, I’m not trying to sound like your parents or anything. Just don’t understand why kids spend everything they have on their car when there are more important things to come first.

If you had’nt noticed…im not BUILDING a motor… i am trying to replace my gsr motor…but anyone knows how hard it is to find a b17a1…also i got screwed on the deal…the car was blown up and of course i didnt find it until i got it home. But all in all i paid 3k for a 1992 gsr on boost and got 500 back from the seller to go twoards the motor repairs so i think i did alright. Also…can anyone ever answer my question about routing the vac line from the intake mani to the wastegate? (thats what i was setting out to get an answer for)
