I’m having the hardest time finding barbed fittings that will thread into my turbo for the coolant lines. 3/8 NPT goes in about 1/2 a turn, and that’s it. I don’t know if it could be metric or something? Someone has to know what size threads those are. Thanks for the help.
what turbo are you running? I rarely run water thru the turbos, as long as your oil supply is good and you’re running a turbo timer than you really don’t need it.
Instead I like to pack cherry tobacco in the water passage. It makes a nice aroma when you are spooling!
i would run the water to be on the safe side if its there might as well use it :sipread:
:giggle: ^^
I agree tho, although its a pain in the ass, I would rather use them to prolong the life of the turbo. The turbo is a Garrett T3/T04b.
on a turbo setup your better off safe than sorry
if you’re rocking a junkyard turbo setup don’t expect longevity. Run a turbo timer and that’s as far as it goes.
where did i say this was a junkyard setup?
it was an educated guess. The reason I said junkyard setup is because I see more water ports on factory turbo cars versus your average brand new T3/T4 turbo that only has an oil line.
are you saying I’m cheap? UGHH!!!
kidding. so, nobody knows the thread size then?
I know its smart to run them when you can, but personally i had them and took the out. I think they are just more trouble then they are worth. They are a pain to get the right fittings for and even once you get them its one more thing to leak and if your fan goes off at stand still its emediate overheating because the turbo heats up the coolant so much, keep the motor and turbo seperate. My experience is that proper oil to the turbo and a turbo timer is what really keeps turbos alive
just my 2cents:blah:
hmmm, that’s pretty convincing. I do have a turbo timer already installed anyways. I guess that settles it, Im scrapping the waterline idea.
