water or oil?

i have heard a lot of people talking about oil cooled turbos, but does anyone have a water cooled turbo? someone told me that the water cooled turbos prevent the “cooking” associated with hot oil sitting in the turbo. is this right? thanks.

Oil actually serves 2 purposes in the turbo, cooling and lubrication. However, there are turbo’s that are both water as well as oil cooled. Most are just oil cooled, like mine. From what I’ve heard and read, as long as proper “cooldown time” is observed, via ie. Turbo Timer your turbo will be fine, and cooked oil on your turbo will be avoided.

oh, alright. thanks a lot.
