Water temp gauge on the hot side

I don’t know what’s going on with my car this time. I just changed a new radiator and now my water gauge is hot. I check my rad it’s fine. When I’m driving it’s fine but when I’m parked while engine running the temp moves all the way to hot. That’s weird. What could it be. Any help please.

Oh yeah. Both of my fans are off too. They work but just took them off.

thermostat is my first guess or water pump

Did you bleed the coolant system after you put in the new radiator? This will cause overheat on gauge but the fans won’t come on.

I loosen up that bleeder bolt by the upper rad hose and turn the heater to full blast hot like 10 mins.

The coolant didn’t poor out. It was just little drips.

Low Coolant/Air Bubble.
Fan Switch going bad.

Those are the only things I can think of… if its fine when you’re driving, but gets hot when you’re at a stop, it sounds like your fans aren’t coming on when they should be.

10 minutes wouldn’t necessarily be long enough. You want to wait for the fans to come on a couple times usually. If your thermostat didn’t open while you did that, your system might still have air in it. If you open the cap when it is cold, is the radiator still full?

Yeah the radiator is still full. And with the fans. I took them off. Could that be the reason why the temp gets hot. My fans do actually work but I just took them both off so it won’t bother my radiator. I changed my radiator a few times already since I thought it was the fans hitting the radiator everytime I hit a pot hole most likely my radiator busts. I got lifetime warranty with my radiator at autozone. But my radiators not the prob. Could be of not bleeding correctly. The liquid doesn’t poor out. Just drips unless I rev the engine with the throttle cable.

deff connect your fans back…and yes the bleeder is suppose to drip nott gush outt u have to make sure theres air in the system this will also cause rough idling…you can also top off the rad with the bleeder open helps air come out faster

Alrite thanks guys. Imma check it out on Monday or Tuesday since I’m off. Well post up what happen.

answered your own question, put your fans back on.

Something else happened to my car. Today I was taking off like a few blocks away and all of a sudden my car just hecka bogged/stalled or so like it didn’t wanna pick up speed or so and a lot of white smoke came out too. It was raining all day too and I have a cold air intake with no bypass valve. Could I have sucked up water. I also taken off my wheel liner so it could flow better. I know I didn’t go in a big puddle or so. What could it be.

Judging from the motor overheating cause the fans wore off,its possible the head gasket went out on you.

If you didnt drive through a puddle, there’s no way you would have sucked in enough water to cause any damage.

Im also gonna say a head gasket failure due to it overheating a few times.

just a tip on something you could do to keep your fans from rubbing on the rad.
Go to the shop and buy like a foot of thin crank case hose, like 1/4 inch wide. cut a small 2" section then cut it all along the side to open it. you can place the hose over the borders of the fan shroud that rub on the rad.

Make sure you have the correct fans for your rad, if they dont bolt up then you might have a different models fans.

I bought a set of universal 12" slim fans from a guy on craigs list for $55, they work great and I can set them to pull or push air so I mounted them infront of my rad to push air. fans come with all hardware to mount on the rad. let me know if your interested, oh yeah Im located in orange county.

Idk. It happened in the morning. I didn’t even warm up the car yet. I just took off for a few blocks than it just happend. I didn’t figure what the problem was yesterday since I was busy. Right now I just checked my spark plugs and looks ok. The oil seems weird though on the dipstick. It looks kinda watery when I wipe it but it doesn’t have any bubbles. I just started my car up right now and it starts up fine with no smoke. Imma take it for another short spin around the block.

Ok. I just got back. I drove my car for like 15 miles going like 80mph on the freeway. Some how my car drives fine now. That is weird. It’s not raining anymore also. Maybe a little water got into it. Ok if it did would it be ok to drive still. I should also put that fan back on

I would check/change the oil if you did suck water up.

if the oil looks watery/ milky to you i would definitely change it before it causes more damage to your engine, as for the overheating while just sitting at idle i’d say it’s guarantee because you don’t have any fans hooked up, thats what they’re in your car for… like mentioned above you can use some hose around the shroud to keep for noise.
