nice rasterbation! i was thinking of doing one of my car too, for the garage
Thanks. I ended up spending way more on materials than I originally thought.:bang:
Pretty cool nonetheless.
Had some fun about a half-hour ago.

nice build…looks like its come a long way for the best…
damn that roof rack looks good because i have an rs too and when i get in my car i always look at where my sunroof should be but those rims look good but not too flashy but clean
Thanks guys. I love having an RS. I prefer to have manual locks/windows in a coupe.
The man-in-brown brought me some gifts today.
I can’t wait for it to stop snowing and have a daily high temperature above freezing to use it!

That last picture is a trip:rockon:
Nice build, and you’re right about an RS being best…
Great shots of the engine bay, continue to keep this thing clean and original!

Haha, thanks guys. I really appreciate the comments.
I’m debating what I should do to the car once tax money comes rolling in. I’d like some Ground Controls/Koni Yellows. I also thought about upgrading the cam/valvetrain setup. I want to keep this thing NA regardless.
Well is that a B16 or a B18C? Regardless of your answer I suggest in order:
- Suspension
- Transmission
- Motor (yes, after trans work)
- Interior (seats and safety)
- Exterior
J.
B16.
I feel that I’m at a point where #5 is already done…for now, we’ll see.
That list looks in order. Now what do you mean by transmission? Do you mean clutch/flywheel upgrade kind of stuff, or more along the lines of upgrading gears/syncros/F.D. etc.?
My plans for the motor aren’t anything crazy. I just want to spice up the stock engine a bit. I’m not sure what my plans will be in the future, but this is my DD and I want to keep it streetable. Plus I’m broke as a joke right now.
Thanks for your input.
Wear,
Knowing that you are running a B16, I would recomend the following steps in order.
#1 - Short geared trans set up, preferably a YS1 casing with GSR/SI/Type R gear set and a 4.7 or 4.9 FD. Also, if you haven’t done so already, a lightweight flywheel and mild clutch upgrade (OEM type R would do).
#2 - GSR/Type R short block. Don’t bother building up that B16, for the money and power gains, you can’t beat the pricing of the aforementioned B-series and those are motors worth putting some money into. Considering what you could probably sell your B16 for, and what a B18C would cost you, it’s almost the same price as a cam/valve spring upgrade.
I’ve been doing this a long time I’ve seen guys waste money on pieces of there car they end up just ditching later on for more a long term upgrade. I hate to see peope wast money on a project…
Just something to think about, there are no right answers just oppinions.
J.
I have kicked around the idea of picking up a GSR short block before. I probably would now, but I need to do something with this suspension first. Whatever I decide to do, I doubt I will be putting any money into the B16 block.
As for the trans, I’m running the S1 short-geared right now. Is there a big difference between the casings/gears strength-wise?
At any rate, these are things that will have to wait awhile until I get some cash flow. Suspension is the priority at this point.
Thanks man. I really do appreciate the advice.
Wear,
Well, it isn’t that a YS1 is necessarily stronger then an S1, but all of the more modern parts for GSR/Type Rs (gears/final drives and LSDs)will work in the YS1 casing and the gear sets are all interchangeable for the future.
The only real way to combat Hondas and their lack of torque is to compensate with gear ratio changes so whether you are talking about a B18C or a B16 both blocks will benefit from a shorter ratio gear set and final drive. These changes are the most enjoyable improvements you can make for a daily or even a race car…IMO.
I would definetely focus on the suspension first, a set of bushings, a set of coilovers/shocks and a Neuspeed strut bar would completely change the handling of your car. I would focus on those first, but I wouldn’t put any real money in that B16, not at least until you upgrade the block and go with the larger displacement for a DA. An RS is a nice lightweight start up chassis, but power is just so much more usable with a 1.8.
Best of Luck,
J.
Thanks for all the advice J. I’ll definitely be looking into all of that.
On a side note, I once again snapped some more pics of my filth.

I’m thinking about doing something I’ve never seen anyone else do: removing the Honda badges and putting the stock Acura badges back on. :stare:
I hope you dont mind but I took the liberty to develop some of your pictures…I am working on another one with the car in the snow which looks like some e-brake fun.
Here ya go, if they were hi-res shots…it prolly would have turned out even better. I’m by no means a professional or anything, its just a hobby for me…anyways lmk what you think.

EDIT: Here is the other one…
Nice. My buddy Mikey took those you posted. He likes the first one you did a lot.
