Weird boost problems...very weird.

Ok so i’ve been boosting for a while now, and i have a few small problems. 1)My car runs like shit and cuts out when i hit v-tec (4,500rpms) like im getting fuel cut or hitting a rev limiter. 2) The transition into boost just feels like im hitting a brick wall, my car just feels like it’s slowing down and bogging out. 3) Car feels like it may have an on/off switch when cruzing at low rpms, it bucks like a fucking bronco. 4) Last but not least, sometimes my car barely moves and just builds like 8 pounds of boost. I can also build about 6lbs in neutral. Does anyone have any answers to these questions? I can’t think of what would be wrong, and im tired of searching. Also my setup, Jdm b16a, gsr head, garrett t3, 450’s, uberdata.

Do u have a wideband in the car? if not there is no way u can tune ur car for anything. DO NOT DRIVE UR CAR OR KABOOM!!!. I think u need also a 3bar map. Because my map sensor died when i hit 10psi. i would help more if u gave me more info on ur car ?

what kind of plugs and gap setting?

stock map’s ok for 10psi or so…it would be safe to get one but i dont think that’s the problem. but yeah…more info on the setup and tune

sounds like tuning. If u DIY u NEED a wideband

Thanks for the suggestions guys. As for the map…i have an uberdata basemap from xenocron. I don’t need a 3 bar because im not boosting more than 10lbs anytime im driving. Plugs were gapped at .49…the colder plugs than stock (ngks)…the ones that the turbo guide reccomends. I pulled my distrib cap off today, saw some build up on the points for the rotor and sanded them all smooth, ran great…then all of a sudden after i was driving it for a lil longer, it started bluttering when v-tec hits. I did have a full msd ignition but im thinking that it might be fried, so it’s not installed. Right now i have a shitty duralast coil too.

MSD don’t work well with Honda’s my girlfriend had a similar problem your stock ignition should be fine I am using a stock ignition on my turbo integ and ignition is fine but I need a ecu tune because i am running stock

last i heard MSd was recommended for turbo hondas? hence they make digital 6 with retard control for boost specific… Idk I could be wrong but Msd works well with any car I think otherwise I dont think it would be sold for use with hondas.

key word here base map. thats just a base map so u still need a wideband or get it dyno tuned. my msd6 and blaster ss work fine with uber

stock ignition’s fine but there’s nothing wrong with msd

i would gap ur plugs at .030

I had to gap my plugs all the way down to .028 to get it to run without misfiring. I would bring them right down to around .032 test it, and then slowly bring them down lower if you have to.

Problem solved…as i was in in-school-suspension today, i was reading my Honda/Acura tuning book and came across the plug gapping. Went home, gapped them to .30 and it runs crisp and clean. (hauls ass 2) Now on to my next problem, who has a steel braided oil return line, and t3/t4 or t3 turbo that they could sell me? My Aireasearch t3 is pretty much shot, sooo much shaft play.

Earls or Goodridge oil return line is available at most auto parts store. They are usually labeled/meant for brake lines

is ur ecu tuned? maybe that can help if u have it tuned.

Not to sound like a dick…but thanks for stating the obvious.

honestly id jsut slap a pair of bearings in ur already owned turbo and be good to go…
I rebuilt my turbo and spools and runs like a champ… Idk condition of ur turbine shaft/wheel or CW but id hope it hasent gotten that bad yet…
Other wise good for u finding out ur problem!
