hey guys… im looking for some help again. please dont bash, im finally at the bottom and i just dont know what the hell to do now. i am looking for some simpathy please help!!!..
i’ll make this as simple and as cut dry as possible going from one problem to the next leading me spending up to 5 grand including parts and labor. ( i know what a dumb ass. " you could of gotton a type r with all the components and parts and what not" i know… i know… but either way im here now and this is my problem:
PROBLEMS:
had b18a ( original in 90 integra ) smoked which lead to a swaped jdm 1995 b18b with 30 k or so… using old integra trannsmission and computer and what not. ran great but it idled funny. going up and down. the cause was not using the other plugs in the back of the block being somthing bout coolent or some crap mixture… i dont remember. either way it was not a big problem. ran it for 8 months.
Decided to go turbo. baught a used turbo kit which included oil lines, frankenstein or hybrid t3/t4 turbo, manifold, boost, air, turbo timer,manual turbo controller and gauges, with blow off valve and hks intercooler. ( no pipes ) i got it for 800 bucks.
took it to a shop here in spokane which did turbo hondas ( had some turbo hondas under their belt and also a 9 second dodge viper and a skyline) shit seemed good. whatever. it was only smoke and mirrors if you ask me either way they put everything together but used a mitsubishi side intercooler and added some welded pipes to it ( didnt use hks front intercooler cuz they didnt have a teg welder or some crap ) and they also got some i think they are 340 rc fuel injectors and a Super Apexi 2 Piggy Back system ( which i think was the culprite ) they made a 3 and a half inch downpipe and attached it to a apexi super hyper stage 3 muffler.it was done after a month and paid 4 grand ( yeah i know… i know what a dumb ass ) turbo was at 10 psi.
ran great and strong till it started to smoke… it was bluish and whitish smoke from the exhaust and lots of white smoke from the engine bay. took it back and told them the problem. they said " your fuel rail is getting to hot and it isnt letting gas go through which causes your engine to die." after he said that… i was like wow!!! never took it back their again. eventually i took the head off and baught a 3 metal turbo gasket for the block. pistons looked good and i also put in some arp bolts. i also baught a jg redline series built head (used might i add for 400 bucks ) installed that and turned the key.
it bogged, it ran, but it ran super f*cken rich ( batmobile style ) and spark plugs were as if dipped in oil. oil was drippen out of muffler as well. i baught a map sensor from xenocron and a ecu with a chip that had a basemap similair to mine just enough to get me around ( or so i hoped ) didnt work and i gave up on it till i could raise more money.
found another mechanic in moses lake. told him the dealio and said he could fix it in no prob. i got good feedback from the guy and looked alright. so i tried it ( ) he ended finding out that one of my pistons was fcked and got 4 new turbo pistons (dont know yet which ones, havnt picked up car yet) and thought that was the prob. nothen. either way to make it way shorter. 3 thousand dollers in the hole. and a fcken year… no lie… a year in his shop ( not to mention i got my shit jacked, 2 subs, amp, sterio, gauges, and what not. but not engine stuff ) he ended up being able to turn it on but now it runs hella lean. he’s afraid of blowing it up again so he gave up on it. and told me to pick it up. so im at the end of my strings…
i know i must of left things out but the majority is their. i would love to post pics up but im at work and i still have to take some pictures. but i will if needed. please ask me anything and i guess im going solo with the help of you guys if you help me… please help me and im as down as possible so please dont bash on me and my stupid ass decisions on my teggy… i just love that mother f* too much…
i allready thought about that. but i really dont know how bad it is to make it run good anymore. as in… i allready put lots of money into it. but if i have to put a little more cash in to make it run ( and i mean a little )… then i think in MY opinion i would lose alot less then a whole of a lot. i also thought of selling it for parts but still. i want to give it a last final shot.
Get rid of those 340rc (10psi on 340cc :umno: is not a good idea) and get some 450 dsm blue top injectors (atleast). Those RC injectors are worth more than the dsm injectors and like that you will get some of your money back.
Sounds like you took it to a few people who have NO CLUE what they are doing with Hondas! Honestly, honda motors are the simplest motors I have every seen (except rotary’s and air-cooled VW’s). Why people struggle with them is beyond me.
So, let me get this straight… The car runs lean, and its burning oil or something? Has anyone done a compression or leakdown test on it? Does anyone who has touched it own or have access to a Wideband O2 sensor? If you have an Apexi Vafc2, sell it and tune through the stock ecu. Spend a good 1/2 day reading on PGMFI.org and the G2ic Turbo Guide. Start in the library section on pgmfi.org and go through each link until DIY tuning makes a little sense to you. If they are 340cc injectors, you may be okay with them, but you’d probably pushing them to the max. DSM Blue’s are cheap and the G2ic Turbo Guide explains installation.
That should keep you busy for a while. And stop overpaying idiots who make your car worse!
to answer some questions asked… nobody around here has a dyno and or a wideband. that is why i asked xenocron to burn me a map so i can run it enough and or far enough to take to seattle for a tune. also the last mechanic (moses lake mech. that took a year and bout to pick up the teggy on saturday ) did a leak down test and thats how he found out the piston was fried. and thats why i got new turbo pistons of the same size. oh and they are blue top 440 rc. sorry thats what i originally meant, and the apexi safc2 got stolen with my other crap etc. and that is why i asked xenocron to sell me a chip with a map, a map sensor, and a new ecu.
i also forgot to mention that the first shop i took it to in spokane, they said that they couldnt fit the t3/t4 hybrid turbo i gave them cuz their wasnt enough room with the manifold i had. so they sold me a t3 turbo from a saab. that eventually blew the seals explaining the smoke and oil leakage. didnt know till i took the teg to the moses lake mechanic and shiped the turbo somwhere to put new seals and made it new again. ( 700 bucks ) i know… i know… either way … the mechanic thinks its somthen to do with electrical and it stumped his ass for a year. so now im asking you guys do please give me an answere to my problem which the mechanic couldnt figure out. oh… and it doesnt burn oil anymore. as far as i know it doesnt. now its just running like crap and it runs super lean and that is why the mechanic gave up and called me today and told me to pick it up cuz he just cant figure it out.

When you have issues with fueling that could be attributed to many things, always go back to stock map, stock injectors and stock ECU (or stock chip) and work from there…
I can make basemaps all day long, but if something is wrong in the car (even a bad battery) can throw fueling WAY off especially when talking about larger injectors and different map sensors.
i know what your talking about cuz im always online trying to do research. as a matter of fact, reading on g2ic actually fixed some of my problems i had in this issue but problems keep coming up. and i know for sure its not the battery because i had a rear battery kit with a very nice and new might i add battery. but that also got jacked with my other stuff. so i had to get a new battery. i also tried the original ecu and chip. thats actually whats on it right now because the mechanic thought the problem was coming from the chip. but he was dead wrong like always.
somebody out their has to know and or maybe have some sort of idea. please help a guy in need. ideas are greatly appreciated. the mechanic and i have tried many… many things. remember… it was at the shop for a f*cken year :mad:

and my main problem right now is that * it turns on but very crapy when it runs. mechanic says its running super lean which is now the opposite of my original problem. he cant figure it out now which made him finally give up after a year.* the mechanic is scared of blowing the pistons out again so he’s pretty much done now. he blew the second pair of new turbo pistons out because he said that their was too much pressure comming from the injectors which burned through the pistons. but i think he fixed that prob. not sure… but he had to,…right? in order to make it at least turn on …no? either way going to pick up the car on saturday and i’ll be back on monday to comfirm everything. please ask me anything you would like me to ask him before i go in and talk to him which would be today around 4:30…
Best advice…dont take it to a mechanic. There is nothing about a boosted car that wasnt originally boosted in the books. Mechanics are dead in the water most times if they cant follow their books or these days computer programs (shop key, mitchell).
Take it to a tuning shop or a tuner. If you are anywhere near Kaizenspeed, they will get you running perfectly in no time.
Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and know when to say when.
yeah… i know exactly what you mean. because i actually printed out the g2ic turbo guide for him… you know… that just incase feeling… and he said it was actually usefull… that made me feel really iffy cuz well… you know… shit… he’s supposed to know right? ha ha… but by then it was way too late. so i guess im gonna have to let this one down and pretty much leave that baby alone. i would love to take it in a shop but like i said the closest is in seattle or in portland. seattle is around 6 to 7 hours away and so is portland. but the thing is i cant even drive their. i have to take it in with a trailer… oh man.
i got another question that popped up… now do you guys think it may be the block itself or the electronical crap of the integra? my concern for this was that i wanted to buy another teg or civic hatch shell and swap my block in. but now im wondering if it will still be the same or it might actually work? i dont know… what do you guys think? just give up… yeah… i know… i know…:wahmb:
you should just keep it and work through it, I mean it is a project and no project is a walk in the park, it may be hard but not impossible. if you have the stock ecu on, you should check for any check-engine codes. have you ever tried that?
yeah but the thing is… its not throwing any codes… thats whats so weird about it. (last time i checked which was 4 months ago) it only turned on while in boost but then it would only go to 4k and stop like a brick wall. and blah blah blah… but that was then and this is now… and i really dont know where im at right now. i havnt tried turning it on or anything. i just picked it up on saturday and found out it is a mess and somone slashed 3 of my tires and super glued the caps on ( awsome right) so i just left it at my mothers house which is in a small town between spokane and seattle. but i go back every weekend and i’ll take a good look and see where im at. but i dont want to turn it on cuz its running lean ( mechanic said so) and i really dont want to blow it up. for the 3rd time… i’ll check the ecu for codes again and see if its throwing somthen or not.
how did the "mechanic’’ come to the conclusion that is running lean? you wont find out what is wrong with it if you dont try to turn it on just dont rev it. get a A/F ratio gauge. check for codes anyways. My computer threw a code on me and my check engine light was off…
-broken ringlands in stock pistons (no surprise there bcuz ur not tuned properly. i’m sorry but tuning with a vafc2 a no no and to put the icing on the cake u where running small ass injectors (fixed now)
-blown seals in the turbo due to lack of running an oil restrictor (glad to see u got that fixed)
-shit still not working and joe mechanic can’t get it running properly
i’m sorry to say it but unless u can find a real tuner shop or someone that knows what the hell they are doing ur still screwed. honestly there has been so many hack jobs (by the sounds of it) done to it that where do u start??? i feel for you, it can’t be easy going through that shit
yup… you pretty much got the story correct. and now for thos of you following to my shitty luck… i got an update… well you know how i picked up my car on saturday right? well… he says i had no permition to pick it up especially since i didnt want to pay the rest of his labor bill which was made in the last month ( 2200 dollers …yeah i know ) but the thing is he just pulled that out of his ass cuz i asked him on wednesday if i could and he said yes… then i went on friday and said their was nothing on the bill but he hasnt put the labor yet.
i told him " i will pay for the parts that were put in my car but im not going to pay for the labor, thats because im feeling generous" that was my deal to him… i said call me if you dont like it but either way i have to pick it up on saturday cuz my life does not revolve around your ass… so he called the cops saying i trespassed on his property and charged me for theft. cops called me saying they were looking for me to arrest me and what not. so i had to go back to moses and pay his monkey ass so i wouldnt get arrested. ( awsome right… i know ) thing is the cops sounded like they were on the mechanics side after i told him the whole story in the interigation room. all the cop said was " well… next time i dont think you should take your car to a mechanic if you dont have the money to pay him" so … i guess next time i should save 30 grand before i take my f*cken car to a mechanic.
so now im going to try and take him to a small claims coart thing. and i hope i get my money back. mainly cuz he didnt fix my car and made it worse then when i took it.
oh and i tried to start my car and it wont. so… i just left it their coverd in snow and probably let it die and become a distant memory. at least untill i can get out of the negative. :rockon: ( trying to be positive i guess)
