What are the best brake pads?

Hey,
I was wondering what the best brake pads were, in your opinion… such as the least brake dust, best performance, ect. I would appreciate any input… Thanks

:defend:

I like using OEM brake pads. But thats just my preference

I’m using VGX semi-metallic.

I’m using Axxis Metal Masters. $35… @ coximport.com

OEM

i use Stillen Metal Matrix, they were a HUGE improvement and don’t fade when you really step on them…and they dont dust up your rims either
got them from www.manchesterhonda.com

I use brembo slotted disc with hawk hp+ pads. They’re noisy but i hit my forehead on my sterring everytime i break hard  j/k

seriously, i like them a lot.

any one like the AEM pads… i think they are actually NISSIN, just an AEM box or product name slapped on. i was looking to get some of these when i upgraded. any thoughts?

front: AEM
rear: reybestos (the red one)

Works fine for street and autox (a few times).

jonsteR… i have the EXACT brake setup on my car… whats wrong with you! I’m scared. :uhoh:

AEM brake pads are supposed to be better, but I don’t know.

BTW: It is an excellent set up though.

AEM are different from OEM. AEM has a different pad material, it’s non corrosive and dusts a light creamy color, not black/grey like the OEM pads. I have AEM in the front w/powerslots. I’ve used, OEM, and Albany pads… NEVER use Albany pads, NEVER.

Haha i guess am not the only one who likes this setup huh?

Project MU…get em, they are great…

where can you get the project MU pads ?? About how much for four all four??

I’m curious about this same topic as well, i am doing rotors soon, I’m planning to go with either Brembo blanks or Brembo slotted (not cross-drilled)…do you know the price difference between those? also, getting on topic, which brake pads are a step up from OEM but don’t give off excessive brake dust…?

The definition of best depends on what you are planning on using them for. I haven’t faded any pads with the type of driving I do in the US. The only time I have faded pads is when threshold braking from speeds in excess of 90mph multiple times. If you plan on doing a considerable amound of performance driving, I would suggest Hawk HP+ or Carbotech Panther+. If you don’t plan on doing any track days in the near future, and perhaps an occasional autocross, the Hawk HPS pads would probably work better. Since most track guys I have talked to don’t use AEM, I haven’t heard as much feedback on them. If you plan on doing street driving only, OEM pads would be fine. I managed a few laps around the 22km Nuerburgring on my stock pads before I finally killed them(although they did fade, and their performance was not what I would have liked). I would not recommend EBC greenstuff pads. I have not been impressed with them on my car. If you are curious, I have Hawk HPS front pads, EBC greenstuff rear pads, and Brembo OEM rotors. This is a compromise setup for streetability and performance. As for rotors, unless you are going to do any serios performance driving, the Brembo OEM rotors will be more than enough. The purpose of cross drilling and slotting is to prevent chemical brake fade. For street applications, this is not a problem.

I have ceramic raybestos up front with powerslot rotors and oem rear, I will be changing the rear to match the front as I am impressed. It’s pricey but, its not even near the price of a Big Brake kit and works quite well.

I have albany at all four wheels. I put them on 6 weeks ago and they are making a slight squeeking noising. plus they don’t stop for sh!t.

the only thing i liked about albany pads were they have a lifetime warranty. so i had a spare set of pad in my garage!

Hawk HP+ front pads, OEM rear pads

this is for someone who does mainly daily driving, but on some weekends wants to AutoX or Drag.
