what are you guys using for a 400whp brake system?

Well I need to buy new brake pads and rotors and Im thinking about upgrading to something else. Any ideas?

If you want real results, research FastBrakes and Wilwood. Just rotors and pads are not an upgrade, and anyone who says that this is just as good as a big brake upgrade is a moron. Dont listen to these people. The Legend 2 piston calipers with Prelude rotors re-drilled to 4x100 is a great upgrade. I driven cars with wilwood kits and this Fastbrakes kit and both give incredible stopping power. You can also do NSX Calipers (member tnd2gen has them). He has pretty much a race whore and he has great stopping power. They also have fins to cool themselves.

Thanks for the quick and great informative reply!

I was thinking about going the legeng/prelude route but I wasnt sure if this was the best way to go or if I should go aftermarket. All I know is my brakes arent good enough at all. Ill look those two brands you suggested and go from there.

Again thanks for the reply

SSBC has a couple options for the teg. Min 17" wheel though.

big brake upgrade is nice, my friend has one on his DC, but im just gonna go with ss lines, endless race pads, and new rotors, new master cylinder, synthetic brake fluid. but for 400whp i would assume you need at least 2piston calipers

I want 16" rims min…

Nick,

Alot of the cars we build end up using 13-15 wheels for slicks, so big brakes are out of the question. Proven, cost effective setup is:

Brembo Slotted, Hawk HPS pads, Goodridge Lines.

Simple, Inexpensive, and youll see that combo on road race cars. My integra uses these, as well as my lexus. If they can stop a 3700lb car with more than 500 to the wheel, they will def. work out for you

Josh

I understand Josh’s point. It all has to do with what you want to do with your car. I road raced my car, and I had a very similar combo as Josh mentioned and it sucked on the road race course. But for straight line stopping Im sure its enough. If youre just driving it around town and doing some drag here and there, well you have Josh first hand telling you its good enough, but if you are looking into road racing on a track I wouldn’t recommend that setup at all. Too bad for me, right when I was going to put a BBK on my car, it was stolen. But that was my next mod since I hated the stopping power of just my rotor/pad/ss line combo. 2-4 piston is the way to go for RR.

fastbrakes and willwood, they alow you to use 15’ rim? i can’t jump on their website while im at work.

also, NSX vs Legend calipers, i would assume that the Legend are cheaper. yet, is the price diff for the NSX ones worth it?

i currently have STOCK front calipers with brembro blanks and axxis pads, also SS goodridge lines all the way around and in the rear i have NEW OEM Rear calipers…with axxis pads. time to time i find myself at 120 MPH + and the stopping power to about 1/2 that speed is shit (track of course). brakes fade like a bitch.

will new calipers remedy this? or should i look for a enw setup?

thanks everyone
