What exhaust are you guys running for turbo?

Is there an aftermarket system out there or did you guys have to go custom? I’m not sure to replace my GReddy SP with and MX or just wait until I drop a trubo in a figure it from there?

Any suggestions?

Thermal R&D make a 3" mandrel bent system from the cat back.

I bought it direct from Thermal - I believe it was around $500 (wholesale)

It is 14 gage stainless steel - has thick flanges.

My only complaint is that you have to remove the rear sway bar

Hope this helps

Cool!
How’s the exhaust note like? Is it’s ricey or deep rumble (ie: like the GReddy systems)?

I went with a custom 2.5" mandrel bent stainless steel system with a magna flow muffler and silencer. It’s nice. It’s flanged at the muffler so I can put on a stock muffler if I get a fix it ticket for exhaust noise. It’s also flanged at the cat so I can put the cat back in if I have to.

It has a deep throaty sound, which I like.

It sounds really similar to a GS-T’s exhaust

you mean to tell me youre not using a rear sway bar? DAMN! I just bought S.T. sways and I was looking into getting that exhaust…

Unfortunately that is the case.

Let me explain - where the exhaust piping crosses over the lower control arm (rear) it is really tight… I figured I would be able to put the sway-bar back on once I got the exhaust installed.

NO LUCK!!! The sway will not fit.

BTW: It was an ST sway-bar - which is probably not what you want to hear.

Other than that I am completely happy with the exhaust.

Handling wise - I haven’t noticed any adverse effects from removing the sway-bar.

Also note I have upper strut and lower control-arm tie bars installed.

I noticed a huge difference going from a stock rear sway bar to the ST sway… how could you not notice a difference?

Wow. No rear sawy bar would create insane amounts of understeeer. I’d be scared to do a freeway interchange…

looking at how the st bar mounts, i’d think it would still clear a 3" thermal exhaust without too much hassle. it’s not that much thicker than the stock bar, & the stock bar still has plenty of clearance.

I tried for the better part of an hour to fit the ST swaybar and I wasn’t able to do it.

I think it would be better illustrated with some pictures. I’ll try to snap some tonight after I get off work. Chances are I won’t be able to post the pics until tomorrow :frowning: .

I’ve toyed with the idea of making my own rear swaybar but haven’t done anything more than that.

I can’t wait until I get my car done, as I have had one obsticle after another to overcome.

does your stock rear swaybar fit? like i said mine has plenty of clearance & i thought the st bar uses the stock mounting points?

Hey there qwkteg125 sorry it took soooo long to post a reply, but … well you know.

Anywho here is a pic of the exhaust and ST swaybay mount, notice that the mount hangs significantly lower than the stock.
Alos the ST swaybar doesn’t have the bend to clear the exhaust.

Ah, yes - yet another problem to overcome!

BUMP

dammmmn, do u guyz have ne idea if the stock sway bar has a chance of clearing the exhuast ok, cuz i jsut got that same exhaust off of beay for kmy custom turbo b16… pleaze let me know.

I’m going to take a guess and say qwkteg125 has a stock swaybar.

Am I right???

So where is the best place to get a Thermal from?
